It is really unchartered territority for GM's. Most of them have only known the "salary cap" era of contract negotiation. (prob. started around 1992-1993).

Because of the uncertainty of how to put a team together in an uncapped year (what to spend, how to budget, etc,) I think teams will be much more cautious at the start. I doubt if at the start of free agency you will have that immediate feeding frenzy (i.e. Albert Hanysworth last year) of teams bidding out of control for a few select free agents. There will be a feeling out process to see how the market plays out.

Of course as soon as someone (Danny or Jerry) get anxious, all bets are off!

bargaining agreement done, and if not, the salary cap will drop by the wayside (except for the final 8 teams in the playoffs last year - the rules are different for them).

I don't give a flying fuck about T.O., but if he goes to Baltimore, maybe Ray Lewis can knock the shit out of his head and teach him something!

Just to be sure that my Pats did not spend too much on him and weaken other aspects of the team.

Adalius Thomas and free up some money for other needs.

Not only to free up money, but to get rid of a large disappointment both on the field and in the locker room.
