I've been to them and they're kind of awful and boring I think. But maybe it's a generational thing.  

I was a "social chair" for my college cultural organization (wink wink) and a lot of these parties break the fundamental rules of having a great party, sex party or not. Good parties always need an icebreaker element, that puts people at ease and encourages them to participate (tbh this is why trans karaoke will always be one of my favorite activities...only available on the west coast tho), and good parties need music with a combination of the familiar and the novel. Good DJs play songs with heavy four-on-the-floor beats once the life of the party is flowing.  

good DJing to me is kind of like sex -- for me anyway you don't jerk someone off really quick in the beginning, you start out slow and increase pace and read your recipient, otherwise the feeling of being lost / alienation / not belonging trumps any connection. correspondingly, only when your crowd's hooked on to you, do you start playing your super heavy beats.
