I think that they would have covered the death regardless, if the circumstances of when and where she was found were the same.  The death of any woman in a quiet neighborhood will attract notice, the reason being is that no one, even the media and police know where it will lead.

All it seems to do is concentrate on her work and her rates!! Her work may be relevant, but it wasn't her whole life!! And what do her rates and gift requests have to do with anything??

The video clip was disgusting too. Instead of using the clip and story to be something of use, they painted everything with the normal shallow mainstream brush and forgot that there was a real person there with hopes, dreams, desires and fears like everyone else.

They end the story with that as though it's something significant.

This is a what a friend of mine in the media told me is the golden rule when it comes to news.

How many murders take place in Chicago?  The media thinks that the murder of "Joe citizen" is not newsworthy... but when they can add the mystery of a "high price call girl" living in a nice area whose next door neighbors had no idea...  then suddenly it becomes something.

Bottom line.... the media couldn't give two shits about what's important or insignificant, nor do they care what affect their stories and how they present them have on anybody.  The media is a business... if they don't get ratings then they don't get advertising dollars and is the ONLY thing they care about.  If Cheryl hadn't been an escort, they wouldn't have said anything about her death at all.
