it's a new addition to TER just started at the 1st of the year.   However, based on the link I've attached, your opinion isn't shared by posters on the S&P board.  

As someone who travels like you do, I prefer to look at regional photo threads. I find having to scroll thru all the posts on the new Photo Only board to find providers from the city I'm traveling to, to be pain.  

Wow, for some reason I'd never made a trip to the photo board.  
 I fixed that today, much to my great pleasure!  
 It is so nice to see high quality images of providers across the country as I travel often.  
 And I saw where two photos were removed by TER and thought I'd like to know what she did to be THAT naughty on this site
