and what is the religious left all about?  Debauchery?

You were wondering when the results of Tuesday's election might start to have an effect?  How about yesterday, two days later?
Because you will probably have to register (free) to access the Los Angeles Times article of today, a summary:

A Riverside CA judge sentenced three on Thursday for providing prostitutes (including a 16-year-old girl) and strippers in tents along the golf course.  The services and prices were listed on boards posted outside the tents.  Apparently, the word got out after the first event in May 2002, because when it was repeated the next month, Riverside County sheriff deputies were dressed in military fatigues with binoculars observing from the surrounding hills.
Two male golfers were convicted for engaging in prostitution, along with two course managers and the female who "lured" the "golfers" from various strip clubs.
The effect of Tuesday's election?  The judge "chastised" them, "telling them that the results of Tuesday's presidential election showed that many in the community place a high value on morality."  The sentence for the managers and the female:  125 days house arrest and three years probation.
   Welcome to the second term.

The long address will not fit in the "link box", so I am listing it here:

Just noticed someone beat me to posting this.  My link is different though.

My gosh! You're right! I can certainly see how, 2 days after Bush's election, the opinion of one judge is obviously a direct result of orders from the White House! I'm going to call up my local election board and see if I can take back my vote! I'm doing it right now!

OK...[sigh]... It's been 4 days now. Doesn’t TER have a Politics board somewhere? 57 million of us are getting sick and tired your childish whining. You lost! Get over it! We didn't agree with you and never did and we finally got sick-and-tired of your self-righteous attitude and the insults you spewed at anyone who dared to have a different opinion. I'm not even a Christian -- I'm an atheist -- but I'll be damned if I want the Left's thought-Police running the country. If it’s a choice between today’s version of a “liberal” and an evangelical, I'll stand with the evangelicals any day of the week. At least the latter have the courtesy to leave me alone.

Do I sound frustrated? I am. I’ve had 4 days of listening to insults to my intelligence in the hallways at my workplace -- 30-year-old men acting like spoiled babies. THIS place is supposed to be about “hobbying” – it’s where I come when I want to think about more pleasant things in life. Yet even here I have to read ridiculous predictions, childish assertions, and other equally disgusting assaults on the intelligence of those who have to read it. ENOUGH ALREADY! Take it to the Politics board.

The problem with the golf tournament you mention is the same with that of gay marriage. They just couldn't settle with doing their thing "in the privacy of [their] own home" and had to be in-your-face about it. Well, guess what? People don't like it when you get in their face.

P.S. Nothing printed in the LA Times is "evidence" of anything.

Obviously I approve of hobbying when conducted by consenting adults using discretion, but even I wouldn't condone what these people were doing.  Just like I don't want slot machines everwhere, or porn plastered on billboards.  There is a correct time and place for everything.  Frankly, if they knowingly involved a 16 year-old girl, they're lucky they only got 125 days house arrest.  And they deserve that sentence just for plain stupidity.

/voted for Kerry
