On the table and under the sheets!

Folks -- I'm making my first trip to Italy (Rome and Naples) later this week.  From what I've read, hobbying seems to be limited to girls on the street (non-starter for me) or escorts.  I've looked at several websites, especially those that translate well using Google Chrome, and most ads look too good to be true.  Also, donations are very rarely stated.  Believe it or not, I also found Backpage ads for Italy -- pretty much the same as escort malls.  Here on TER, there are a few reviews, but, virtually all of them (none from Naples) of recent vintage have only one review -- red flags right there.

Does anyone have any recent experience in Italy they would be willing to share?  My bad -- I let my VIP membership lapse, so I can't read PMs at the moment.

Thanks for any help!  If worse comes to worse, there's always authentic Italian cuisine to fall back upon...

I have spent a lot of time in this fabulous country and the closest comparison I can come up with is a large US city, let's say NYC.  As a non resident, or first time visitor, you are likely to not know the environment and thus look to what you can easily find on web sites.  You will not realize it but you are a target, a tourist with deep pockets they think, and so you will be faced with exhorbitant prices even from the street walkers in both those cities you mention.  Naples is a military town.  Huge US naval base there.  Best advice there is to go find the bar areas nearby the military base and let those sailors fill you in.  Rome on the other hand is just plain expensive unless you have insider information.  Been so long ago that I don't have any details that would be reliable for you.  But from experience, I can say that your best bet is to have local contacts who can show you the ropes otherwise most likely going to be very expensive and ripoffs playing you as a tourist sucker.
