Looking for a little help. Work out of the house on a second computer. Occaisionally other family members ask to borrow computer in emergencies (or perceived emergencies). Is there anything I can do to insure that the web sites, such as this one, that I have visited are not detectable?

If you are using IE6 you can go to Tool, Internet Options. Click on the General tab. Click on Delete Cookies, Delete Files and Clear History.

If you are using a version of XP, you can set up a user that is not obvious, and don't furnish them the password. Then set up a general access ID that everyone else uses. Then all the info for the recreational user is hidden away under its name. You can hide this user from general view. Its easy, straightforward,and doesn't require extra software.
You can always create a password-protected "profile" or account and log out of it when you are done. All modern OS's support them (this excludes Windows 9x, ME and MAC OS's prior to OS X).
No extra sofware needed. I do that on my MAC at home to view this site since my wife uses the computer too. I just created a dummy account for my friend under his name (He never actually uses the computer at my house) and do all of my TER related surfing under that account. Just have to remember to log out of it when you are done.
I'd go with Windows XP or Windows 2000, just log off and they can't access your IE. Though with Windows 2000, you would have to set additional permissions.
If asked why the sudden additional accounts, respond with: so everyone can use the computer without having to fiddle around with the sites. XP was designed with this in mind.

I have been using window washer for couple years now. Fast and efficient. I also use Spyware and Adware to completely clean my computer of any possible breaches. Can't be too careful.
