I don't think so.

Traffic violations are not criminal offenses. (A DUI is a crime, not a traffic violation.) You can't be arrested for speeding. You can, of course, be stopped for any moving violation. Once stopped, anything in plain view, or anything you say can lead to more trouble. If you really think "the government is trying to get people on speed limits," best to stay in your fever swamp, continue to collect your urine and compost your feces while you wait for the black helicopters to land in your yard.

I was checking the mugshots today and noticed someone booked for speed in excess of 85 mph.  That would really suck to get your car towed and have to pay for the tow just for going more than 85 mph.  I just wanted to let everyone know to not drive fast I think the government is possibly trying to get people on speed limits and speed traps.

In Arizona, you can be charged with what is known as “Criminal Speeding” in two commons ways:

Travelling over 20 miles an hour over the posted speed limit. For example, travelling 56 mile per hour in a marked 35 mile per hour zone would be a criminal violation.
Travelling any speed over 85 miles per hour, regardless of the posted speed limit. For example, if the posted speed limit is 75 miles per hour, travelling 86 miles per hour would be a violation of that law. Unlike the situation described in Number 1, in this case, travelling 11 miles an hour over the posted speed limit is sufficient to be considered a criminal violation.

And what has this got to do with having fun with beautiful and talented women like Bentley Marie, Emily Paige, Khloe Meadows or Lexi Lee? Or any number of other amazing providers in the valley?

He pulled me over for 83 in a 65 zone outside of Prescott.  Anything over 85 will get your car impounded and a trip to the graybar motel.

I got up to 210 kph in Germany once.

Not a government conspiracy, but a steady income for the department and steep tickets for the heavy footed! I got pulled over driving to Vegas last year the day after my father passed away. I was going 24 miles over the speed limit. I was almost arrested, car taken ect. The officer was very mean to me, but he did let me go under the circumstance. I did pay nearly $1,000 fine.

We can now return to our regularly scheduled activities! Carry on.....

Sounds like a construction zone or school zone where they double the fines.

Actually I do know someone who was arrested for speeding . I am not sure exactly how fast to make it "criminal speeding" but a few years back a friend's dad was going over 100mph out by Quartsite on I-10 , with no traffic. Only problem was there was one car of the wrong traffic, A cop. This man was pulled out of the car, handcuffed, arrested and held for about 3 days before being released with bail.  He did not have any warrants or suspended license or lack of insurance. He was not under the influence.
He only was speeding, but going excessive.  I think it's called criminal speeding, and there is also wreckless driving which I believe you can be arrested for. 85 seems a little low but I think so laws give complete discretion to arresting officer

Yes you can be arrested for speeding. It is called felony reckless driving and he was right, anything over 20mph of the posted speed limit is considered reckless driving, and yes it is a felony. But I think you should continue to push your luck, have a nice life...

Wait I thought reckless driving was a misdemeanor:
ARS 28-693(B)

And I thought that endangerment was the felony version but should only be applied in cases of DUI or intentional vehicle attacks which missed the target and high speed escaping attempts from the government or identifiable passenger victims in the vehicle being put at risk during the driving and not mere reckless driving.  So is criminal speeding not necessarily a lesser included offense of reckless driving and/or endangerment in all cases

But that was in Cali.  I understand in California, anything over 90 is a mandatory court date but not necessarily jail.  Whew!  Gotta say though, on the 10 or the 60,  85 doesn't seem to be such a big deal.  Guess it is.

Calculating the towing and fine costs this could be a good purchase.

A few years ago, I went to San Diego for a Bowl game (and 1st date with the lust of my life until she retired, but that's another story).  Coming down the mountain into Imperial Valley & El Centro heading home, and off in the distance I see a car on the side of the road.  Top of the line Passport Redline detector (X,K,Ka, laser) sitting quietly on the dash.  I decide to slow down from the 110mph, and it turns out to be a CHiP.  Turns out they are using LIDAR now.  Busted for 85 in a 65, cost me $300 or so.

Good thing that AZ refuses to fund DPS, AZ schools, and education in general.  But we going to guarantee private prisons 90% occupancy rates!

Valentine1 has got that covered  too. Only thing is you need to allow someone else to be the rabbit. Because, once they get you they've got you.
I always find someone who wants to go faster than me. They tend to get tickets.

Cha ching! Another $300 saved and used for a friendly visit with my ATF!!!!

I thought California does air pacing with airplanes so even if you have a radar detector they can still pace you and radio to a ground unit?  But then both of them need to show up in court or else you will get a dismissal.

No they are not drones they are actual manned aircraft and I think they have something akin to WWII bombing sites (visual no lasers in use and no radar) and they just get behind you in the air and match your speed on a level flight path then they can check their airspeed if it is more than 70 mph (the California speed limit).

Then also a radar detector won't work if there is an unmarked ground LE pacing through a speedometer.

In order to counteract visual pacing a car would have to have an outgoing radar to detect planes up above within a 5 mile closing range.  Also it would have to detect radio communication frequencies used by LE to identify ground units using visual pacing.  Maybe it could have the radio detecting and radar antennas on a cargo rack.  Or also probably a asphalt camoflauge paint job would need to be painted on top of the vehicle to make it harder to acquire in the plane bombsites.

According to truckers, the Bear in the Air monitors the time it takes for a vehicle to move from between two sets of tick marks visible on the freeway from the air.  Then it will calculate the speed using the accepted physics formula of velocity = distance/time.  Also I am not sure if this is a viable option at night.  However, at night, it is hard to tell if a ground vehicle is pacing you especially since there are no standardization of LE vehicles.

Also according to the news, DPS has spent $96,000 for a yellow Ford Mustang and a Red Dodge Challenger, both 2016 models, of course.

I always drive at 84mph on cruise with my laser detector and Waze running, oh, and my attorneys business card in my bimmers glove box too just in case

Criminal Speeding:

I know this goes against conventional wisdom but with criminal speeding the state usually never asks for jail time and merely a fine.  If you have an attorney represent you at trial in a criminal speeding case you then put yourself at risk for a jail sentence.  So if you are charged with criminal speeding and given the cite and release it is better to not retain an attorney.
