My vote would be myth.  Aren't all Airstreams trailers anyway?

Yesterday I was dragging myself through the gutter when I noticed that it was all clogged and broken. Now I have spent many a night laying in the gutter faced down and I know when it is broken. So I called the gutter repairman.

He said for $2,800.00 he would fix my gutter up nice and I go go back to my usual routine. He then started to tell me all that legal mumbo jumbo, like I will have to wait a week for the paint on my gutter to dry before it functions properly and that when ice forms on it that ice is slippery. blah blah blah.

Boy did he hit a nerve of personal responsibility for me.

He then told me the most curious story.

There was this driver and a provider traveling in an airstream across the desert. The driver wanted a cup of coffee and asked the provider to make it for him. The provider was asleep because she was recovering from a lenghty tattoo session.

So the driver puts the airstream on cruise control and gets up to make the coffee. (You can start to see the problem here)He makes the coffee and is caught up in the beauty of the provider's new tattoo. He then returns to the wheel just in time to see that the airstream is starting to careen off the road.

There is a big accident.

The driver sues airstream and WINS! His argument was that there was no sign that said not to leave the wheel when you engage the cruise control.

The gutter guy said that airstream put a warning on the dash the very next day.

Is this fact or urban legend?

Urban legend...heard same story about a custom van just yesterday...whhat a coincidence

such as the one I listed.
There are others, such as urbanlegends, etc.

However, there is a TRUE story of two surfers here in SoCal and one surfer sued the other for stealing 'his' wave - and won! (And, no, they weren't in any competion at the time - just leisurely surfing.)

Different RV and people but it is a fact - somewhat. See if I can recall . . .  A man was driving a motorhome and wanted a sandwich, set the cruise control left the wheel and went to the kitchen to make one. Big wreck and he succesfully sued the manufacturer due to the way the instructions pertaining to the cruise control in the owners manual were written, I think it was in 2002 or 2003 this actually happened.
