Billy Joel, at 55, just married a 23 year old woman.
Not knowing the two at all (except what we know of Joel's public personality), and thinking "Hey, as long as they are happy, whatever", I am just curious what y'all think of a 32 year old spread between newlyweds.
He has a lot of MONEY................
Exactly, money and power what drive younger women to marry older men. Kevin Costner who is 49 was just married with a 30 yeras old female, Tony Randal (before he recently died), was married with a woman in her mid thirties, and he was 80+, and on and on. Celebrities no matter how old they are or how bad they look always get anything they want and are never considered "dirty old men". But if you are decent man, well off, but not a celebrity, suddenly you are a diry old man.
A perfect example are the personals. You see these single women, those who are mid 20s say will never date someone older than early 30s, and those women in the early to mid 30s who say would never date someone older than 40, but if they get to know a celebrity suddendly all those requirements about age will go down the toilette.

... other than sex... what could they possibly have in common... now... I'm not saying they are not in love... I'm just saying marriage is hard enough without throwing a major monkey wrench in it... but if that is what the makes the two of them happy... go for it... but don't be surprised if you see the in People in the not too distant future filing for divorce.

It appears MSD that this question is being sidetracked somewhat which is unfortunate. I believe in the situation you are presenting that money and power do play a very big part along with the celebrity status. I, like yourself do seek out women around my own age, it makes for a more common base of interests and experiences. My viewpoint is if it works for them good.
You never can tell two peolpe to place their love under the exacting microscope of logic for any great period of time.
This assuming that their love is genuine in the fist place.
In which case, they're off to as good a start as many . . .
I am not that interested in celebrity.
If they are happy with the choice, then who am I to care.
If they are not happy, well then maybe they shouldnt have undertaken the marriage.
I think marriage and age difference really isnt an issue. I would marry a 55 year old woman, just as easily as a 23 year old one, if I was happy with my choice.

If he is 55 and she is 23 it is all about the money. If he is 55 and she is 55 it is all about the money. If he is 30 and she is 30 then it might be love.
