Re:I find the discussion board w/o background color changes (blue stripes) very hard on the eyes. e

the light teal colour is difficult on the eyes, it needs to be darker to create more contrast against the white background.
I found myself constantly scrolling to the right, due to the menu on the left taking up space, that I just can't deal with.
I could get comfortable with the rest after an adjustment period.

On the old version, I can sit at my desk w/o concern that a co-worker will see my screen from a distance and see a picture of a woman or the word "erotic."

Anyone else?

I have to agree 110%... They should remove the big EROTIC on the top left as well as the nudie ads... make it more discreet. I hope they keep the old version up.

I agree the present format, without female pictures, is much better than the new proposed format with female pictures.  If it ain't broke don't try to fix it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are absolutely correct, Turkana.  I don't come to TER for the pictures, just the facts, please...  (Well, with the exception of Pornboy's occasional puffies.)  But, in general, my preference is NOT to have girlie pics and no prominent Erotic words displayed.

The new site seems to offer absolutely no new features that were requested, but instead time was wasted in making it more "explicit" so you have to look over your shoulder constantly while using the site... I would opt for a more discreet design (even the old look was ok) and more FEATURES.

Haven't found anything I like about it yet, but i'm a lookin'

Graphically, the new format is more elegant and soiphisticated, but the existing format is one of the most legible and easily useable discussion board formats on the web. It is never a good idea to sacrifice utility for design pizazz.

Maybe this could make the boards even more sophisticated than before? Just an opinion. TER Staff came up with elegant perfection (to me).

I agree with Hytek about the elegance and with another post that stated "it is certainly more polished". I did not have trouble viewing or reading any of the pages. The photos do not give too much away. If anything, get rid of the large word "Erotic" at the top left (others mentioned also in this thread). I would rather be at the new one than the existing one if someone was walking behind me. It does not have any ads at the top of it that say Escort usually within the banner ad. At a glance the new site looks like it could be anything from a bank website to a maybe a dating website. It is very modest looking to me. Just like the existing site, the new one is done to perfection.

I just recieved my bank statement today, and when I held it up to the screen, all teal/green colours matched perfectly.
just odd/funny that someone else commented about that too

the same runs true now and again with some of the fantabulous providers I've spent time with...and then they change their "props" and I'm content again but at a higher level.

...so,in turn, variety is the spice of life.

As for the new and improved TER look:
Unless I'm missing something,it's the same features and "props". The colors are prettier(maybe cause its different) but when trying to read the messages...it appears to be a bit more difficult...maybe its the very bright backround contrast or maybe its the color coding that's missing which highlighted what I've read previously.
So bottom line in this case for me... it's FBC.

Cheers!

Huh?  How do you get to it?

I went to look and got this...

"During ISP Session initializiation an error occurred: 0x8000FFFF
Please check the Application Event Log to see the description for this error"

As others have mentioned, it's less discreet.  That is a negative.

Other than that, it's pretty much the same old site.  It looks like nothing more than a facelift.  I was hoping that if there were ever an "upgrade" that it would be a cleanup that gets rid of the inconvenient aspects (frames, javascript and form buttons in places where normal links could have been used, etc) but they haven't fixed any of that.

It looks like the page now uses a style sheet, but then the rest of the content is still full of font tags, colors, etc.  Whoops.  TER would be a PERFECT place for serious use of CSS.  They could have a fancy "erotic" style that loads images, etc and makes it look sexy, and a discreet style that looks "boring" so your coworkers have no idea why you have a hardon.  ;)

I don't think TER is being run by tech-heads, who would put a lot of thought into these types of issues.  But hey, it's just a beta.  Maybe they haven't really started on the meat of the work, yet.

Click on the 'Overview' button in the discussion boards and the threads 'collapse' so that only the first line appears, thereby showing more on the page without needing to scroll.

That button changes to 'Display', which can be clicked to expand the threads.

I've been hoping for that for a long time.

I'm asking myself if I feel this way just because it's unfamiliar. But I associate hard, candy-wrap like colors to porn shops.

I'm going to try to post a review, where I think the board probably needed a better interface, and I'll see if the changes are more than cosmetic.

I don't know if it's the background, but the discussion boards looks unorganized and very cluttered.  At first glance, it is difficult to read and equally difficult to follow all of the threads.

TER is high ranked, visited by many. Maybe the new look will lessen the risk of someone recognizing a site you are visiting. That they may have vistited his/herself.

The new look also blends in with a variety of different websites. I wrote earlier and another agreed about the bank potential (appearance). It could be a dating site (maybe), another mentioned medical (I agree too), or I get a feeling (by glancing) a website with a rain forest atmosphere (could be for alternative medicine, enviornmental concerns). It blends with a variety of situations far better than the current layout. Just my opinion though.
