Don't jump to conclusions just yet...

There're any number of reasons why you may have not heard from the provider: she may be swamped, have personal problems, be out of town and so on.

Is the web site useful to the provider in its present state, or does the missing information render it useless?  If the latter is true, I'd just wait until you hear from her.  Until then, she's received no useful product from you, and must make contact in order to have anything of value.

On the other hand, if the work you've done so far is usable by the provider, you can do two things:  One, you can continue to wait, sending her the occasional email or IM.

Or two, you can send her another email advising her that you're taking down the work until she's contacted you with the remaining information and an agreement as to the terms of payment.

Hi please don't flame me because of what I am about to discuss. I am a lurker to this board and several other sites and I have never dated a provider. I recently saw a post from one of my local provider that was asking for help with her web site design and she was offering an exchange of services. I admitted do not know alot about website design and told the lady as much but I was the only person who had responded to her post so we agreed to a swap. I have spent multiple hours working on her web site design and I do have it looking fantastic excpet I do not have all the information from the provider that I need. I have sent her several emails and IMs just trying to get her to get me the rest of the information that I need and she has been unresponsive. I don't want to sound like a jerk but we did have an agreement and I have done as much as I can to complete her site and I feel I should be compinsated for my work.

What should I do? I don't want to flame the girl and I will not reveal her name or post negative things about her because she is a highly rated provider who I would like to spend time with but I want to know what options I have or what I should do. Thanks for listening and for any advice you can provide.

Just keep the site under your ownership, accessible only by you, though she can still see the pages about to go online, til she fulfills whatever obligations that were established.

With all the work you have already put into her website, it sounds as if you are entitled to a BBBJTCIM at least.

That's my kind of advance!

Just curious.  My hourly rate for web stuff is $125.  How many are you putting in, and how many payback sessions did you negotiate?

Her normal rates is $350 an hour and it was my work for a 1 hr session. I have no problem with that but I have put in more than 4 or 5 hours into it already and there is still another hour or two of work to be done once all the information is provided. The site she has up now is useless so she is wasting her money for the server and domain but it is her preogitive.
