The only option you have is to disable tabbed browsing

and if you don’t want to keep history, you can enable “private browsing” in fire fox settings. In every case the header of the “Tab” will not change nor can you hide it.

Heading is requirement so the programming choice is for the programmer to use a bogus name which is not going to happen. It doesn’t make sense.

I'm mostly using PCs and various versions of Windows.  I'm mostly using Firefox browsers.

I know very well when I'm on a TER web page so I don't need a banner or other info but I recently had to do a quick switch to another browser to cover up TER with more mundane material.  However, twinkling in the system tray was a tab (or whatever it's called) that said "The Erotic Review - T..." and I'm wondering if the person who I was talking to noticed or wondered.  My questions:

1. Is there a way that TER can program their webpages to NOT display the site name in the system tray, but maybe something neutral or meaningless ("Browser Window", "Private Window")?

2. A bit trickier and less important, but likewise for the "Title" of the browser window / tab itself.  I'm looking at "[Firefox Avatar] The Erotic Review" in a large bright blue bar.  Can that default to something less blatant or attention getting if it should stick up while behind another (privacy protecting) browser window?

3. Regardless of TER's programming decisions, is there anything that I can do?  I usually keep a spare tab on something neutral (news.google.com, espn.com).  That changes the system tray icon and the Title Banner (to "Google News") but you can still see the other tabs ("The Erotic Review : Words ...").

Should this thread be moved to elsewhere?  (The Suggestions Board?)

Thanks

Smart people use Firefox cuz it's possible to do just about anything you want.  Far better than any safari or Internet Explorer PoS.

I have my TER pages looking like it's from CNN or some generic message board cuz I'm at a coffee shop or some public place a lot.  The url navigation bar is also hidden so that anyone peeking at my laptop (even if sitting right behind me)  would have a hard time figuring out what page I'm browsing unless their vision is better than 20/20...

You can set it so that whenever it matches "the Erotic review"  rename the tab to CNN.com or Google

I am assuming that you are using Windows 7, not the crappy Win 8 or 8.1.

Setup up 2 separate accounts on the computer.

One for you and one for Family or use some other name.

That's what I do on the PC out in the living room. No one has figured it out because I make both of the accounts using identical desktop backgrounds and even have similar icon placements. On side note... I rarely do any "outside activities" on the living room computer since it's right out in the open and not 100% private.

When I'm done, I log off my account and log back on using the Family account.

Now, the computer in my office... that's off-limits to everyone in the family except me. I do run my business from that PC plus do my other "activities".
