I have used this board for awhile now. And I really enjoy reading some of the post and especially when a picture is attached.  I have posted lots of post but with no picture attached. (sigh)  I can not figure it out and its driving me crazy!!!  It has a url for the picture.  I have my pictures on my computer in a folder.  So how do I get a picture out of there on here!??

Can someone please show me the light? LOL  And if there is somewhere on here that tells me, just send me there.  I have looked and not seen anything.

Thanks in advance
PictureLess,
Candy

You have to post your picture on the web before you can add it here. There are many websites that will let you do this for free. try Kodak, I'm sure the other fellas can give you some more.

You can't upload a pic.  You can only link to a pic that can be reached via an internet URL.

The best way is if the picture is on a public website that you can enter a link to.

If the picture is only on your computer, you will need to find a "host" website and webpage to store it on, then use the Link URL to that website.  There are a number of free sites that you can put a photo on and link to. But most are limited in bandwidth, so after a certain number of hits they will refuse links.

Thanks for the help you all.  But I am still missing something??  Its early, yes so please dont laugh. LOL

So I went to geocities and put my picture on their free website.  I go and try to link the URL of that page and I get an error saying only jpegs.  Well the picture ON the page is a jpeg.

Arghhh.....

So I am still

A jpeg is a file format, and is the preferred format for the Internet. If you have a photo editing program, you may people to use the "save as" function to save your pictures as jpegs.

Maybe you can pay someone to help you, are barter with a nice gentleman in your area to get some technical help.

Good luck.

Actually I have done my own websites for 4 years now.  And always get great compliments on them.  Its not a website i am having trouble with.  As my post said, I do know what a jpeg is and that IS what my picture is on the page.  But I typed in the address that I have my picture on (http:) then that error came up.  Oh.....nevermind......this is to much trouble for a picture. LOL

I think Nicole had exactly the same trouble about three months ago. I don't remember how she solved it.  If she doesn't see the message, pm her about it.  Her handle is NOSC

Does the URL you are using end in .jpg or .jpeg?

Maybe you are trying to link to the "page" and not to the "image" which has a .jpg or .jpeg extension.

Type in the URL in the main text area and I'll take a look.

Here is the link that I have it on.

First I did type in just the PAGE then I typed in the page plus jpeg.  Its not that big of a deal.  I have always been curious though.  I like to see the person who posted the post.

Thanks bunches everyone.

I was disappointed to find out that TER doesn't have an "upload" function for photos and other files, which is what is needed in order to put a file from an independent computer onto their server so it can appear here.  Linkmeister is right: the picture URL space is for entering a URL link to a photo on an established website or webpage only.

We probably should shop the idea of an uploading function over on the Suggestions board.

Hey Picturless Candy-

I actually am a webmaster- and have been since 1996. Perhaps I can help you. PM me with the URL of the free site where the photo should be, and your email or other contact info (that's a switch!).

I will probably ask you to email the actual photo to me at my private email address.

I always right click on the pic I want to upload, scroll down to the "properties" link and left click on it. A seperate window pops up where you then can see the properties of the picture. You then highlight the specific picture's URL adress, which usually ends in "jpg" or "jpeg" and then click on "copy". You then move and "paste" it into the picture URL message below. Just like this one,....

Now, if you left click on this pic below and scroll down onto properties, you will see the URL addy for it. Your Pic is NOT a "jpg" or a "jpeg", so the computer does not see it as one and it will not work.

Alright...I FINALLY got it!!!  All I had to do is go to my picture where it was stored and add JPEG...thats it.

I uploaded it and it worked.  But I need to work on resizing....that is why I deleted it.  It was freaking huge. LOL

Thanks Again Everyone

Not Pictureless Anymore.....
