PHOENIX - The National Football League has terminated Warren Sapp's contract Monday after he was arrested on charges of soliciting a prostitute in Phoenix.
The former NFL defensive tackle was taken into custody at the Renaissance Hotel in downtown Phoenix on Monday morning.
ABC15 confirmed with Phoenix police that Sapp was arrested on one count of solicitation of a prostitute and two counts of assault.
Police said Sapp met two women in the lobby of the hotel before they went back up to his hotel room. They started discussing money, a physical altercation occurred and the argument spilled into the hallway around 2:30 a.m.
Sapp was transported to Phoenix police headquarters where he was questioned and admitted his involvement in the act of prostitution. He denied assaulting the females.
Officials found minor injuries consistent with a struggle on both women.
One female was cited for prostitution and released. The second female left the scene but was later located. She was cited for violating the city's escort permit requirements and was released.
Sapp was in Phoenix to cover the Super Bowl for the NFL Network. Alex Riethmiller, vice president of communications for the network, said Monday "[Sapp's] contract has been terminated and he no longer works for NFL Network."
He started as an analyst for NFL Network in 2008.
Sapp had his initial court appearance around 4 p.m. Monday. A judge release Sapp on his own recognizance, ordered him to posses no weapons, return to the scene of the alleged crime or have contact with the victims.
The 42-year-old played for the Oakland Raiders and Tampa Bay Buccaneers before being elected to the NFL Hall of Fame in 2013.

We have no clue what happened. I find it hard to believe if they were real and legit girls there would of been a problem. My thoughts is it was a upsell situation and escaladed. Not saying anyone is right .. BUT no reason to have his life ruined over a bad night. Sad.
Even if it was an upsell situation, there's no excuse for assaulting them. He's the one to blame for ruining his life. He was arrested for domestic battery in 2010.
So again none of us where there.

Anyone has access to Phoenix city arrest records or mug shots? Freedom of information Act and public records, but you have to know the web link and may be pay a fee?
I have already put in a media request and Sgt Trent Crump got right back to me and it will be sent but will take several weeks. I need to reach those ladies ASAP.

I bet at 2:30 in the morning he called up ladies off BP who went right over and then tried to upsell him. I don't know for a fact if this is what happened BUT after many years here in the biz it is just my gut feeling.

I heard from someone ( nameless ) That Warren was at the bar at the hotel with allot of people. ( this person EVEN took a pic of them at the bar before hand and I saw it) This person says there was these two girls at the bar flirting heavy with him for a long time and he was buying them drinks and everyone was having a good time.
From what I heard... Warren didn't know they were escorts while at the bar but the girls seemed to be coming on to him heavy and eventually they left the bar.

OR after playing around the girls then asked for money...and things turned bad.
Just saying... Never assume because of what the surface looks like. I personally saw the pic of them at the bar.. and knowing the ratio of " traveling ladies " that do not have standard like a higher end honorable provider that were in town for ONE REASON... I can see this happening.

Possible he tried to stiff them on their fee. Also possible they were thieves trying to rip him off. If the latter is the case, as non-PC as this sounds- they both deserved a good beating. if "cash n dashers" wound up getting hit a bit by the victim I don't give a shit. They got what's coming to them.
Most likely scenario is that all three of them- Sapp and the 2 girls- are assholes.
