While we all know not everything we see online is true, I actually saw this posted on Facebook a few months ago. It is an informative U-Tube video. I thought it was very well constructed on this subject and according to it, we are only looking at a $4.00 per year per household either way.

Enjoy regardless.

As a Phoenix native I remember the chaos that in sued when we last tried daylight savings time many years ago. Now Rep. Phil Lovas wants to introduce HB 2014 to have AZ observe it.

Please, please call his office
(602) 926-3297
and let him know how ridiculous this idea is.
The more the public calls and complains the better.

Thanks

I just did, than for the heads up

Please let them know how insane this is

We should be trying to get the rest of the country to stay on standard time...

Absolutely agree with scrapping the whole system.

I admit I am very narrow-minded.
With BOTH heads.

I know you don't like me Jeffrey but at least I am posting information that is important and affects everyone

I'm with Jeff on this one, should be on the politics board.

Ok perhaps school children will have to go to school in the dark for a few weeks.  I can say transacting business with a 3 hour difference then it switching to 2 is a pain with my east coast partners. Ok, I get the consistent time zone thing and we are no longer an agrarian society and artificial lights and the like, but geographically, there is a huge difference between Arizona and Hawaii relative to timezones.  In the continental US I think consistency is more important. If nothing else, you change the batteries to your smoke and carbon monoxide detectors twice a year  :-)

Lifted straight from the article...

"Instead of sunrise at 5:30 a.m. during most of the summer, the sun would come up at 6:30 a.m. The mornings would be cooler since we'd be rising an hour earlier. "

So are they saying it would be cooler because we would be rising at 6:30 instead of 5:30 and that is an hour earlier? Maybe I am just confused. As a carpenter that works out in the heat I don't give a damn what time they say it is. I will still be on the job at the butt crack of dawn to avoid as much heat as possible. Why change what is already working. Silly politicians please insert head back into ass and leave us regular folk alone. I shall call.

If you work at 5:30am, you would still work at 5:30am (really 4:30, so it should be cooler) Spring up, Fall back.

Again, I am looking for consistency.  If the Continental US observes it, then all states should.  Conversely, if it is scrapped, then all states should scrap it.

Well if you want consistency should we not get rid of time zones as well? 5:30 should be 5:30 from Maine to Alaska to Hawaii to the lowest tip of Texas. If a train leaves a station in New York at 8:30AM bound for Phoenix and a train leaves a station in Phoenix at 10:30AM bound for New York are they not both really leaving at the same time regardless of how light it is outside?

We never have to change our clocks! We on God's green earth would you want to complicate our lives. You state that you want consistency. Does that mean you think every state should have identical laws concerning everything? Maybe the United States of America should just bow down to the U.N. and become a cookie cutter nation. Why be the Country that we are when we could be consistent with then rest of the world. Maybe all your answers and thought should be consistent with what I think. DAMN, I think I have talked myself into it. All individualism in this world needs to stamped out and crushed. ATTENTION ALL REVIEWERS effective immediately your reviews and scores need to be consistent with all previous reviews and scores of any hooker that you see. Reviews and scores are not allowed to express any individualism. Reviews and scores that are not consistent will be dis-allowed and you will be banished from the site immediately. Keep drinking the cool-aid undercover.

The Lege is looking at a BILLION dollar budget hole, the mantra about cut taxes for the top 1% continues, child welfare issues, education issues, such major problems and this is what they come up with.  I wonder when the NEXT pro-discrimination bill will work its way out of the snake hole.

Yes, this probably should be on the politics board, but I don't think the audience is the same there as it here, locally.  His legislative assistant Ashley says they are taking names and numbers to report to the Rep. Lovas the degree of opposition to this bill

WE DID IT - see speaking up does make a difference. With all the phone calls Rep Lovas withdrew the bill.

Thank you to all that called - we made a difference.

Here is news article:

An Arizona lawmaker has withdrawn a bill that would have put the state on daylight-saving time.

Rep. Phil Lovas, R-Peoria, said that he decided not to move forward on House Bill 2014 after receiving feedback from the community, according to a statement released Sunday.

"I have received many responses to the proposed bill, and while some have favored it, the majority of the feedback has been against the idea for various reasons," Lovas said in the statement.

If it had passed, House Bill 2014 would have overturned a 1968 state law opting out of the federal Uniform Time Act.
