The Thunderous Pop when you Bite the Skin!

The Saline Tang as your Tongue Touches the Pink Flesh... Ahhhh...

Ah, the seldom heard realities of food service.  Having worked in it for twelve years, I could tell ya some things that would make you toss your cookies.

However, much has changed since Upton Sinclair wrote the novel of my subject line.  Check out this article:

Also, as far as the "hog casings" (which is food service terminology for what frankie was referring to), those suckers are scalded and made more sterile than just about anything outside of surgeons gloves, so it really isn't as bad as it sounds.  Most of our eating habits came out of when we HAD to eat things, because there wasn't enough to waste back then.

Plus, although I do eat them, veggie dogs just don't cut it.

because it was not made of latex but of animal membrane; and rumor had it that in fact it was made of lamb vagina.

Those were very good condoms with an excellent feel to them -- far better than anything on the market, but not as effective for HIV.  Yes, they were made from lambs -- but I thought that it was the small intestine of the lamb, not the vagina.

and I've never heard any rumours of it being brewed from lamb vaginas.  Though will concede it tastes like bat's piss.

These were/are primarily for people with latex allergies.

I think they now have other materials (polyurethane?) which
are preferred because the lamb skin ones do not protect from
many diseases cause they are microscopically porous.

Yes, Gray's dogs are great!!  Funny you mention this, as I've had such a sudden, strange craving for dogs/ brats, and many other things in the form of sausages lately....  also love, whenever in the mood for a wiener, complete with sauerkraut, red cabbage, and German mustard, Hallo Berlin!  Something about looking at that wiener before biting in is sooooo tantalizing!!!

on the west coast. When ever I get back there I bring back a 10 lb. box. A couple of others things you can't get out here are steamers and a good loaf of Italian bread. I'll get my fill soon, heading back the 2nd week of Sept. Love those hot dogs.
