Here is a little info about female condoms.  I would imagine use would depend on the provider’s preference.

I personally like the female condom better than the male condom as far as sensation, but I would not use it until some better studies come out.

A couple of things to remember.

The pregnancy rate for female condom uses is nearly twice that of male condom users. 14% compared to 26%

the studies on the female condom are pretty poor.

The FDA still recommends using the male latex condom as a highly effective preventive measure against STDs, and using the female condom as an alternative when the male partner will not use a condom.

I've just expierenced my first session in which the provider used a female condom. It was great! I don't do real well with a male condom. I know they are more expensive but I wish female condoms were offered as an alternative more often.

Do you think I should just bring one with me ? Are there differnt sizes ? Will most providers know how to insert it ?

I'm glad to read this... as a female provider, I bought some female condoms a while ago, but haven't used them yet.  I bought them primarily for guys who didn't want DATY without some protection, or perhaps didn't like the feel of male condoms.  When I ordered/bought mine online, there was only 1 size.  And, you're right, they are more expensive.  If you prefer them, I would suggest taking one with you --- I don't know how many providers have them.

Below is a link that gives some pretty good information about the female condom.I was also very pleased to see this discussion. It's nice to know that men as well as women are concerned about different types of protection.

Classy Chris,
Thanks for providing the information on fc
Is the fc your choice for protection ?
Mike

Its a much better experience for the male, although it feels a little weird for the female (according to most).  It is much safer, with more durability and coverage. There is only one size.

My experience is that the provider must already know how to use it, and actually should have it inserted before hand.  Bringing on along without them knowing risks improper use.

The FDA strikes again :).

I'll try to dig up some canadian and euro studies for you.  The high preganancy rate has long been addressed, and its due primarily to leaving the condom in for multiple sessions -and not even using it, since it is possible to simply slip right by it if you are careless.  The FDA studied trials in life situations over a year, as opposed to clinical rates in which the female condom was much superior in every performance category.

The durability and breakage rates are much better with the female condom and THEORETICALLY (big if) should provide a much higher degree of protection against STD s.  It all gets down to proper use, and thats where I stand by the statement you dont just show up with one .  A provider must insert the condom properly, and that includes internal lubrication.

I would think if any situation was right for it, it would be an escort...since they are professional and deal with the occasional stranger who ties to go bareback or delays condom usage so long that contact has already occured.  And on busy days, they also may have an interest in the male achieving orgasm a bit sooner :), so they can walk the next day.

Excellent discussion for the board tho...reminds me of my days in med school lol.

Thanks for your information. My situation, it was used after foreplay and mutual oral and inserted rather quickly prior to intercourse. It made a big difference for me. I'll read up as much as possible on proper techniqe and will bring some with the next few sessions and let you know their responses' Thanks again
