Hi everyone,
Sure have missed being around as much as before, but I'm adjusting to my new self. I'm eating solid foods, protein only still for another month or so when I can add some veggies too. I feel great, no pain since I first came home from the hospital, no other side affects or complications. I have gotten sick a couple of times, but that's from eating too quickly.

The best news though is that the weight has seemingly melted away. I've lost 6" from my waist, almost 2" from my neck, an inch from my ankles, arms, thighs etc. ... and lost a total of 60.2 pounds!!! I have joined a gym and have been working out, all part of a new life for me, and will also help build muscle and burn fat. Sexy beast, baby ... yeah!

It's amazing to weigh less now than I have in probably 6-7 years. Knowing that weight is gone forever and that I'll only get better, healthier, thinner and more well endowed. :)

The picture is of me 3 days pre-op weighing 421.2 lbs.

Take care everyone, always appreciate your thoughts and concerns.

Glad to hear you're doing so well.  60 pounds in two months?  Wow!  I wish you much happiness in your new life.

I hope that your inspiration last and spreads to as many areas of your life as possible.  You are too good looking of a guy to have let that issue define you.  Welcome to the first days of your new life.

Glad you're sharing it with us, and hopefully will continue to share your progress.

Get yourself a good juicer and be sure to get into fresh (organic) juicing! I love it!

All things become new for you, ba-by! Yeah!

Thanks Sedona. I figure an update every two months or so is plenty. Plus, I'm thrilled, had to share the good news! haha

Have to watch things like juice hun, if it has sugar (natural or not) it can make me sick. More than 5 grams will do it too. Part of the forced behavior modification process. The part of the intestine where sugar and fats are absorbed is bypassed ... so if you have some your body doesn't know what to do, kicks into overdrive and teaches you (quite quickly) not to do that again. lol

Thanks for your thoughts and prayers love.

Licks and kisses,
Jim

I don't know you personally, but any friend of Sedona and Mr.SD starts out way ahead in my book.  So, a couple of tips from a Certified Personal Trainer.

Keep up the workouts.  You want to lose FAT, not WEIGHT.  Dieting alone you'll lose both fat and muscle.  Mix cardio and strength training.  Cardio to burn calories and overall health, strength training to preserve muscle mass and improve condition.  But don't get carried away and overdo.  The goal is to improve gradually not hurt yourself quickly.

Did you know that 1 lb. of muscle burns 30 calories/day just by being there?  Fat burns 2 cal/lb.

Best of luck!

Welcome back to your disfunctional family here on TER Jimbo. Please continue to be good to your self, and we will be here every step of the way to share in your new self! Take care Jimbo and please keep us up to date!

Cheers!
Kylie

As a hobbyist, weren't you a little apprehensive about posting a picture of yourself?  Perhaps it will be a good motivation.  The faster you reach your target weight, the sooner people will stop recognizing you as "that hobbyist I saw on TER."

Anyway, I wish you all the best!

Not at all apprehensive b. For many reasons too; one it's motivating to see how far I've come in two months. Two, within a year no one would recognize that's me anyway. Three, motivation the other way ... if someone who is battling obesity sees the picture perhaps they'll change their life around before they have to go through what I've gone through. So no, wasn't apprehensive at all. Besides, nice to put a face to the name now and then isn't it?

Thanks for the well wishes!

You are correct sir!

Only girlfriend I ever had was in 1986. She went with me for two days and broke up with me on Valentine's Day.

True story!

Had my share of crushes, infatuations, even been in love a few times. All unrequited sadly. Though they profess how sweet, caring, funny ... even handsome I am. No girl would ever go out with me. Never figured that one out.

You'll face challenges every day/ every minute.  Keep at the diet, as hard as it may be at certain moments -- drink a ton of fluids, teas, water, etc to help satiate your appetite.

Would advise you always to be under medical supervision and to keep up the cardio, and more importantly, boost the weight-training (lifting, etc)......  And sex will be so much better day by day as you get stronger and stronger, and leaner and meaner!  Your member will look increasingly larger and larger as you slim down.....  And you'll be able to be on top, on the side, in so many positions......

Best to you....

Thanks, very kind of you.

It's not so much a diet though, as it a new way of life or a new way of eating. The new stomach pouch and the bypassed intestine dictate pretty much what you can eat and how much you can eat. Right now I'm eating about 2-3oz. of say fish, chicken, cheese, eggs etc. Protein, and soft is good! ha

My member has already shown signs of life too. I can see it when it's fully erect ... which has been a lot! My libido is through the roof, has been for the last three or four weeks. Right now though the best to improve my sex life is to find a partner! lol

Medically I see my surgeon every 6-8 weeks for the first year, then at least once a year after. I also attend support groups once a month at least, as it is important to surround yourself with others who have been through the fire too.

Here's to multiple positions without being so strained you can't keep an erection!

I saw a report that said many people initially lose a lot of weight after having a gastric bypass, but then manage to gain it all back within a few years. Somehow they adapt.

Don't think of this as the magical cure to all your problems. Get to the root of why you reached 421 in the first place, and then deal with those issues.

Then don't waste this opportunity, go lead a happy joyous life.

Remember, you deserve it.

Been there done that. Believe me, I didn't go through two plus years of hell, frustration and bullshit to fuck this up. I did my research, my homework and more and figured out a lot of things about myself.

I know this is no miracle cure, there is no such thing. It is however a tool that helps you gain control of your eating habits.

Those who have gained weight back, obviously went into this with the wrong mentality. Plus, there are several varations of the operation. I myself had a laproscopic Roux 'n Y. Part of my stomach was seperated and intestines bypassed.

Some operations merely restrict the intake of food, like a lapband. This can be taken out at any time (which of course would allow you to eat as you used to) and can also be defeated easily because there is no malabsorption. So if you're still eating sweets, fattening foods, drinking milkshakes everyday, guess what? You're not gonna lose weight long term.

That's why I chose the surgery I did. It's harder to defeat, though can be done (but you have to work harder at beating it than succeeding with it.) I am making the most of it so far, and life will only get better!

Hell, I can already see my dick!
