Hello all you Chicagoans!

I'm coming into town (for a second trip in two weeks) for an event out in Rolling Meadows (wherever that is - I gather it's up near O'Hare).  My first question is, I arrive on Thursday, and don't have to be at the event until Friday, midday.  I am flying into Midway (long story there), and I'm going to have to rent a car either way.

So, I theoretically could stay downtown (back at the Hard Rock, like a did a few weeks back), or I could stay up near the event.

The question is, where?  If I were to stay out in the 'burbs, should I stay in Rolling Meadows, or down the road in Schaumburg, where the hotel picks are apparently better.

And if I were to stay out in the 'burbs, any thoughts on must-see providers while I'm out there?
