just P*** me off. I had a formal party to go to and asked a girl from work. This was my boss from the Department, getting married, and we were requred to show up in Dress Whites.
Now I would not consider myself to be a "handsome" man...but I ain't ugly either. I work hard, have a nice house, good job, nice car/truck and have some land that I use to raise my hunting dogs..(my passion in life)
She has cancled before due to kids/sitter gig...and I do understand. I show up at the door and she is not even there! Saw her at work...and no explanation, not even a "screw off".
Twice now, I have had formal gigs to attend and either can't find a date (have nothing to wear) or my date blows me off after saying yes to the event. Gave up tickets to a play that I really wanted to see...black tie deal...dinner, show, drinks/dance with cast afterwards....and nobody wants to go to a nice show. Wish a woman would call me up and say "Hay, I think your kinda cute...I'll take ya to dinner, trasport ya, pay for your meal/show...and all you have to do is put on a tux and look/act nice....." Ya, when pigs fly!
Wish I had the $$$ to hire a provider for these deals. Find me some long haired bombshell, put her in a dress that is cut to please a man....and then get on my dress whites (complete with gold citation for valor) and walk into the damn door with her on my arm. Watch the jaws drop then!
At the least, she would show up on time, as promised, or call. At the least, I would have the fun of finding a dress for her and give it too her (always wanted to do that) show up to a formal with a drop dead beautful woman (instead of alone all the time) and maybe even get lucky afterwards! (cake and eat it too...so to speak....)
Too darn bad, that I have to work for a living, and just can't afford that kind of service. If I could...I would use it...I am sick of going to plays/symphony/dinners alone.

I don't think he had a bad attitude. Just sounded bummed out. After going to so many parties alone seeing everyone else with a lady and getting stood up so many times would mess with my confidence a little (a lot).
Chin up! Forget those girls at work. Not a good idea anyway taking a girl from work. I bet if your work has an event to go to for say Christmas and you know about it now you can put something away every paycheck until then and save up to hire the perfect lady. Make sure you check reviews very well so you know she won't back out....and have another girl in mind incase she does. Try to make sure they are both the same dress size incase the first one backs out!

It's part of the reason I've turned to hobbying. I've seen, heard about, and experienced so many terrible stories. Yours involved just flakiness and no-shows. As bad as these were, your experiences if these women had shown up would have probably been worse, expecially since they involved your work, too. Don't involve work in this. There is some general resentment, almost a cultural resentment in civvie women that I haven't seen yet in providers. Apparently, women who haven't absorbed this are most able to become providers.
And, no, unlike some others, I don't think it's your attitude. I don't think a bad attitude has anything to do with it. In fact, it's the guys with the worst attitude, who are somewhat threatening, who appear to be awarded most.

Start now to build up to having jaws drop at your next holiday party. Use your hobbying funds to locate/identify a provider lady you like, and become a regular. While it's generally true providers won't give you a minute more than what you've paid for, there ARE exceptions. I've done deals with ladies when I'm not even a regular that include dinner, a show and a 1-hour session for the price of a one hour session -- simply because the ladies didn't feel like sitting home on a Saturday night, or they want to see the show, or a one hour session is better than not making anything at all that night. I'm not saying you'll find a lady who'll do this every weekend -- this is an approach for the special occassions you wrote about.
at least you were not married to the witch! Then it would happen to you all the time and yet you are still stuck with her until you pay an ungodly amount just to be rid of her! And trust me, you don't want to go down that road.
So, please consider yourself lucky in that regard!
What you would need is nothing longer than a dinner date (about four hours). You can afford this is you plan and save for it. A dinner date with a $500/hr provider may run you as little as $1600 for the visit if she gives a multi-hour discount for a date of four hours (many providers will do this because they prefer the single date over four dates, if they even attempted four days in a day). $1600 is easily acquired with planning, even if your means are lower middle class. You are probaly blowing more than that over two to three months, with your current efforts. Buying a dress will run more, but you can even do this without a lot of pain, there a lot of stylish dresses to be had for reasonable sums - a highend provider more than likely will have her own wardrobe that she wears to dress social functions.
So plan, have a good story about how you met your date and your "future" plans with her, show up a little late and leave after maybe 2.5 hours with the statement that you have "other" things to do. You will be "the" man at your job site.
And the woman who is blowing you off? I don't want to sound mean, but sometimes the best way to get a woman is to show her that you do not need her in your life at all, a sad but too often true statement.
