I was thinking the other day about how nice it is to be an independant provider vs. one who works for an agency. My experience has been that it is like two different worlds. I was sent to so many terrible situations, many were dangerous, never knowing anything about what I was walking into when working for an agency. I have only had to walk away from two situations since becoming an independant. One was due to an extremely filthy invironment (and individual), the other was a fellow who was soooooo drunk (or very high on something) he couldn't stand up by the time I got there. That's it. Any comments?
yes being independent is a completely different story. I suffered horribly at the hands of agency owners and even saw a man that was later arrested for murdering several out call maseuses on the east coast...he had my card in his wallet. I was sent to see men who were not only very high on drugs but had requested that the girl he saw be willing to do them with him...that was after I told her I wouldn't see anyone who was using. i was robbed at knife point and sent on many a wild goose chase because the agency owner was too lazy to check the address to make sure it existed. Since i have been independent i have only had to walk out on one man and that was because when I showed up he said that he only had $100 but we could work someting out...that was after viewing all of my info, being screened and making me drive 40 miles. Other than that I have only had one other mildly bad experience and it was because the client came to our appointment still suffering from food poisoning...what he was thinking I have no idea. I am sure it was worse for him than it was for me.
