last year and not congratulating the Magic. So logic says Manning should be treated the same. Manning did offer congrats during the post game and said he was going to reach out to Payton, Brees and others. So he will get a bit of a pass on that, where Lebron was not in the mood to recognize the Magic. I'm sure the press will have a field day with this.

without shaking hands? I can understand his disappointment, but I think it was poor sportsmanship on his part. He's worked very hard to get where he's gotten to, but he has repeated an abundance of rewarding in doing so. So, it seems he would be big enough to at least grin and bare it when it's someone else's turn. jmhpov

Manning is just a poor sport when he loses..
He has a brother who plays football, who is a lot like him ,but a bit more wimpy.

lost that game. Before the game I wondered if Gregg Williams will play his defense by covering the Colts receivers or rush the passer. He choose the former, and the coverages were nothing special.

The Colts were doing well running the ball, but it looks like Manning wanted to pass the ball. Thus the Saints did not attempt to stop the run, because Gregg Williams knew the Colts would not run the ball, becaUSE it's all about Manning.

Manning face, his grimace towards the end of the fourth quarter was precious though, it was a look of "I don't want to play anymore".

Overall, it was a poor game, glad the Saints won, but I detest poor tackling and there was lot of in this Super Bowl. That is what people should be talking about not some silly sportsmanship faux paus.

on the field as soon as the clock hit zeros. Did you see the crowd of photogs around Brees? The head coaches could hardly get to each other.
C'mon guys this is such a non-story. Like Peyton or not, you're really stretching here.

For whatever reason, people like to see athletes shake hands at the end of a game. People perceive shaking hands as good sportsmanship and a recognition that you were the better team (or player) that day. We have long been conditioned since elementary school that win or loose always show good sportsmanship at the end. Certain sports carry on that tradition. Could you imagine the outcry if a tennis player didnt walk to the net and shake their opponents hand? Or a golfer who walked off the green at the end of the 18th hole without shaking his playing partner's hand? Or, heaven help us, if a hockey player skipped the traditional handshake line at the end of every (even the Stanley Cup) playoff series? They'd be vilified and roasted in the media and by the fans.

But, these sports aside, the bottom line is Professional Sports is not little league. You shouldnt have to care if you are hurting someones feelings if you dont shake hands at the end of the game. Peyton Manning just lost a huge game. Season over, no championship. Obviously he was annoyed, angered and bitterly disappointed. Should he have been forced to put on a fake "happy face" and fake smile and go over and shake Drew Brees's hand? No.

While some athletes can offer congratulations at the end of a loosing effort, other's can not immediately get over the bitter disappointment of the outcome. They shouldnt be viewed as poor sports if they dont wish to shake hands at that moment.
