A heads up to my fellow Southern Californians; Temescal Canyon Road stop sign; now equipped with a traffic ticket camera. Fine: $437.
New red-light camera fines: $437.
Ventura Blvd. (Encino, Tarzana), Now staffed with 6 motorcycle cops with radar. Jay walking: $173.
I witnessed the latest and meanest revenue generator on Sunday afternoon: 210 West bound, town of Sunland, Wheatland exit, CHP speed trap: Exit is 25 MPH; CHP officer standing at the bottom of the ramp with laser. Two officers writing tickets, with at least six cars waiting for their tickets. EVERY car was being stopped.
This sh*t is completely out of hand......

I know this probably belongs in the politics forum, but hey... if California got back 1 dollar for every dollar we paid in taxes to the east coast political machine, we'd be ok. But we don't. We get 61 cents for every dollar. Wyoming gets $2.43 for every dollar they pay in taxes, and Texas almost $2.50. Speaking of Texass, if we hadn't been screwed out of $50 billion by Texas and the Enron scandal, we'd be ok. And if we had representation in Sacramento that actually gave a damn, instead of the idiot asshole self-serving douchebags and scrotum-scratchers we seem to get stuck with, we'd be ok.
Instead, California with the 8th largest economy in the world, is bankrupt because we, for too damned long, have been the tit that the rest of the country has been sucking off of.

So damned wrong!

I thought I had accidentally made a wrong turn and entered a police state Tuesday there were so many coppers hiding in the shadows waiting for some ill-fortuned motorist to step over their supercilious code enforcement line.

Doesn't it do the heart good and fill one with pride to see law enforcement used as a revenue collecting tool by our elected leaders.

Give the bankers & Wall Street trillions for a bail-out and send badged, pathological bullies equipped with tasers, clubs, and guns to beat the money out of the innocent citizenry to pay for it.

I wish all the simple minded, knuckle dragging sycophants to authoritarianism and its usurpations a lonely, painful, and meaningless death.

zones seem to be everywhere. I haven't gotten a speeding ticket in ten-years but these photo-enforcement zones are wrong and franky I think unconstitutional. These photo-enforcement zones are turning law abiding citizens into pissed off citizenry.

What do Timothy McVeigh, the DC snipers and many criminals have in common, they were stopped for traffic violations? Traffic stops do much more than deter speedsters they can be effective in apprending criminals. Traffic stops can also be learning experience.

What does ticket in the mail do? Well it's a good money maker but for whom? The city or the contractor who put up the cameras and collect a fee.

They even take pictures and send you the info, requesting your information because they couldnt get the license plate clearly. Dumbass fuckwads.

You'll get a notice in the mail, ignore it. You'll get a second notice in the mail, ignore it.

About 3-5 months later, you will be informed all charges have been dropped.

They have to serve you in person to force you to go to court, and they aren't gonna spend the money to come 400 miles from Arizona to serve you in California. Dumbass fuckwads.

RRO2610 is spot on. This country is fucked up, our priorities are completely whack.

NJ just raised their fines substantially and have instituted (or raised, depending on who you believe) large quotas for State Troopers.

California's broke, they have to do something, and they aren't going to raise Paris Hilton's taxes for some insane reason.

They also raised parking meters in L.A. to about 4 times the rate, and if you get a ticket, in addition to the ticket itself, there is a $3.00 tax on the fine.

There are about 6,000 other increases, fines, fees. We went on a drunken spending spree. And still are not sober.
