use many alternative types of screening including work verification. You may have to be willing to give more that just "work" esp if you are offering it up. So be prepared. Find a provider with history of  a solid reputation before you give out your personal information to just anyone.

I tend to find the friends I start off with this way end up being some of my ATF's!
