With all the options available in Vegas, why on earth does anyone go to a brothel anymore? Is it the novelty, the illusion that it's safer, or maybe they just don't know any better. What is your opinion?

Because you can A) spend a lot more money than with most indies in LV B) get a lot less in the way of service and companionship C) get to drive at least an hour or so to the closest cat house D) can have the company of a lady in a brothel room, as opposed to the comfort and security of your own hotel room E) get to dicker and haggle over price as opposed to the stated and virtually guaranteed rates on almost every indie's web site that works in LV F) get to roll out of the limo in front of the(fill in the blank)ranch with all your drunk buddies, ah the stories you'll have to tell.........

..don't forget that there's the limo service you pay for, the limo driver you tip (even though he's getting a commission from the brothel owner for bringing your sucker ass over there), the brothel gets half, the lady gets half, which in all cases she turns over 1/3 to Uncle Sam and in many cases the other two thirds to her "business manager". As for the brothel owner, he can pay the salaries of the housemoms who talk shit about you behind your back (or in some places in front of it), "participate in the political process" (i.e., buy off pols who will fend off attempts by the Christian Right to have his brothel legislated out of businesss), and buy himself a brand new Eldo, diamond in the back, sunroof top, etc. when all is said and done.
Sounds like a plan to me!!!

about 4 years ago. Hoping to enjoy myself and the company of a lady, but perhaps more out of curiosity.
I did not enjoy the time I spent there, and came home about 600 poorer, wondering why the f**k I even thought of doing it. And I got a speeding ticket on the way back that cost another 200. It was a total waste of a LV day, not to mention the dough. Never again.

I don't think anyone has mentioned what I see as the main two reasons. First, brothels are legal and there is no LE risk. Second, brothels require no advance research and can be visited on impulse. In fact, I'd venture that most brothel visitors aren't aware of TER or similar research sources.
How can they be visited on impulse when they are at least an hour from Vegas?
All of you have stated good reason, but the one of the above is one of the two tired old reasons they drug out any time someone brings up the word escort on the brothel boards. The other being the safety factor of the ladies being checked. The people who go to the brothels are well aware of this board and others. However, it seems to me for the above two reason, people keep going to them.
It's funny that this subject has come up again. I go to one of the brothel boards and keep up on what's going on in the other world. The indies in Vegas have the brothels running scared. The owner of the Chicken Ranch is trying to get LVPD and the FBI to put a halt to the escort action in Vegas. Why the FBI, because of the internet it crosses state lines. Right.
The was also a recent post from a lady who worked in one of the smaller house outside of Vegas. She was not making enough money, so she got a real job and works when she wants on the side for an agecny. She is now very happy and makes a heck of a lot more money then she did before.
I keep coming back to the poor guy who paid $1200 for a 17 minute party. Indies rule!!!
Based on my experience in visiting brothels for the past 4 yrs., I have to agree that it's often the legal/safety factors that draws many of the guys to the brothels ...despite the high cost, the ridiculous negotiation process, and all of the rules.
I also believe that taking the initial step into the world of indies has a lot to do with one's moral character and how comfortable he feels participating in something that's illegal. It took me close to 3 yrs. before I felt comfortable enough to actually start seeing indies. It's definitely a refreshing change from the brothel scene.

Brothels give sex a bad name. If legal brothels are ever allowed in Las Vegas (as they are in Nye and other rural counties) the independents here in town will still thrive.
If anyone is considering going to a brothel, get a Victoria's Secret catalog and a bottle of hand lotion, you'll have a better (and much cheaper) time.
It amazes me when I read brothel girl reviews with high scores which are far from being earned based on what the guy says he got. And the money that people drop -- amazing. Someone mentioned spontaneity. I can understand that being a motivation if a guy feels the urge and simply doesn’t want to spend the time getting on the phone and calling around and dicking with references and all that... especially guys who aren’t interested in anything approximating a GFE. I personally have a mild phone phobia and that makes it rough for me to get on the horn and call around. That's one reason I have seen Angel and Dana... in addition to the excellent service, pretty much all set up via email.
