Has anyone besides me heard the rumor about the NCAA possibly expanding the tournament to 96 teams? Isn't there something like 117 D1 teams total? If so, they should just open it to everybody. Then, the Final Four will spillover into baseball season.

or watch the conf. tourneys and the Dance. I haven't heard that rumor. I will go find out right now though.

I will enjoy the ACC Tourn. and the Final Four this year. I may attend a regional if i get a hankerin.

Of the articles that I read:

One stated that the expansion would equate to 28% of the 346 div. 1 teams would then be playing in the tournament. It also claims that presently 58% of Div.1 football teams(that seems high)accept bowl bids.

Another article has some Div. 1 teams claiming 'ridiculous' due to the RPI factors of suppossed 'lesser' schools.

Both articles claim the expansion would render the regular season pointless. That's possible outside of determining(once again)who goes and WHERE(which region).

What do I care. Anything outside of the ACC(and Maryland kicking Duke and Carolina's asses)is moot to me. HAHA.

GO TERPS!!!!!!!!!!!!

in football, and now this.  I can't speak for others, but the more they expand bowl games in football and increase the size of the basketball tournament, the more I lose interest.

I thought the real teams were in the SEC.

Trying to squeeze every last penny out of amateur athletes that they possibly can. Major reason collegiate sports is just not my thing.

Looks like booster club revenues are not enough to pay those $ 10,000,000.00 / year football and basketball contracts anymore.

Whatever happened to going to school for an education?

With all due respect, these "lesser" teams have a wonderful opportunity to participate in post season play: it's called the NIT.

It is true that we all have our issues with NCAA and how they operate.  This just seems to directly reinforce these deeply held beliefs.

Furthermore, if I were in the NCAA's position and still very interested in expanding "bracketology", I would loose all arguements that that use the NCAA FBS to support the idea.  That is anything but running smoothlessly in any effort to determine a national champion.
