He has a lot of money and he can is Smith's view. The demographics of those who watch golf will give Tiger a pass, because they want to see him play, and yes the demographics are male between the ages of 35-70. It will be the PC crowd that will want a pound of flesh.
After March Madness, it's pretty much the Master's, US Open, and the occassional Basketball game at the Oracle Arena. I don't particulary care for watching basketball on TV.
I real think the media is artifically manufacturing a controversy. The controversy is fueled by people who don't play golf. Every golfer in the world, wants Tiger to play. I don't understand what is the big deal.
If he opts to address OPRAH with a half-assed tear than i'll agree with you; Bad decision.
I'm all for personal responsibility though. I wouldn't require a pound of flesh to acheive that. Keep in mind i never cheated on my wife,or thought about it. I don't give 'passes' to people who do. They simply need to take whatever 'lumps' come their way for that transgression.
Tiger does not need to interview with the trashy tabloid media types.
He needs to continue what he is doing and ignore the media about his personal issue.

Everyone knows what happened, and Tiger fielding questions from the peanut gallery is not going to do him much good as they will spin and twist anything he has to say in order to benefit themselves and their ratings.

I will say when he does address the media, it will most likely be at an event of golf such as the Masters, that has a controlled media presence.
I think the first we hear of when and where he will address the media will probably be on his blog, which by-the-way I think is a horrid way to deal with things. I am sure he watches the media though, and when he does release things on his blog, it is to guage the response and sentiment of the public. He is a smart guy in that way.

Quite frankly, I hope he keeps it a private family matter. He needs to work on his demeaner between the ropes and how he interacts with his fans if he wants to earn some brownie points. Beginning to sign autographs for the crowds would go a long way to earning respect and forgiveness from the people who support him.
