REMINDER - If you are in search of information regarding a certain provider or a certain region, you need to post on the appropriate regional board or the ISO board.

The Newbie board exists for general questions about the hobby. If you tried to post something that doesn't belong here, chances are I tranferred your post to the appropriate regional board.

Lots of guys just put "help" or "need info" or "need advice" or something like that in the subject line.  That's a good way to get your message skipped over for one that gives more of an idea what the post is about.

Just my opinion,

IMHO, people don't change the subject line often enough when replying to a thread. How often do you see "Re: [previous subject line]" in threads throughout TER? If you're replying to a long thread it is especially helpful to change your subject so as to highlight your point. Just today, I was approving messages on another TER board. The same username replied to the same thread with the same Re: subject line. I thought they had accidentally triple posted. They were actually submitting three replies to different posters in the thread. Three different subject lines would make that easier to read.

I am just recently starting to review and use the message boards and I have been curious of a couple of things. Who is the moderator of the boards? Are there different moderators for different boards? Why is approval needed before a reply is posted?

Is there any way to see the active topics since I last signed in? I have seen this feature of some other forums.

Thanks for any help, I am just trying to learn the system here.

I think that there are about 8 discussion board moderators on TER. I believe Mr. Info posted the list here some time ago.

I moderate this board in addition to Boston, Carolinas, NYC and Philly. Different moderators have different styles as to what they will allow. (I certainly have a different style. ;)

Everyone starts out on moderated posting status which means your posts must be read by the moderator of the given board before the post is approved for viewing. It is up to the moderator of your regional discussion board to change your status to unmoderated. Moderators tend to have different thoughts as to when or if to unmoderate someone. Here is the link to a post which explains how I do it.
