Hey Folks,

... Backpage.

It seems that there's a good sized group (providers / hobbyists) who are not fond of Backpage.

Providers:

I see very well reviewed providers from TER posting their ads in Backpage.

Why is that?

What's wrong with only advertising on TER only?

Hobbyists:

If Backpage is that bad, then why bother even visiting the website in the first place?

I am seeing many posts that are anti-Backpage, but yet the same folks are either advertising or trolling the Backpage.

Can anyone explain in a rational way why this is going on?

to capture a full market share. Some go to BP, use TER, use a local board, whatever fits their advertising plan. To just pick one place is/can be very limiting in the pool a lady has to choose from.

If a reputable lady advertises on BP and can be shown to be TER legit, she has more chances of a larger client pool. Especially if she mentions TER reviews etc.

There may be some quality to be found there, but you have to sift through too much trash. So, I don't go there anymore. YMMV

These providers here on TER, most of them are well reviewed and are reputable. With BackPage, its not. Those BackPage providers don't offer the same type of services as these girls here. That is, they will treat you like a number and they are on to the next client. Do you see where I am going with this?

As for me, I don't limit myself to just TER ads. I search everywhere, including BackPage, cityvibe, p411, datecheck, agencies, and Eros. If I limit myself to just the ads here in my local boards, then I find myself just settling for what's available. I don't settle. Also, BackPage girls offer me a different selection in women that I don't normally get.

I sometimes like to change my selections. For example, I like big booty girls, and I can't get that here on TER. Sure, there are some, but not much. With BackPage, there is more variety IMO. Some well reviewed providers do post on BackPage temporarily, I've seen plenty of them. They do this because BackPage is another avenue of advertising to reach other demographics. Not all hobbyist know and view TER ads. TER ads is actually limited and produce a small visit if compared to BackPage ads. If you look at the views, the average views of a TER ad is about 800 views (sure, it can be more or less, this is from my observation). There was a provider that added a feature of views in her backpage ad, and in one day, she had over 16,000 views in the Washington DC area.

I like BackPage, but I like it because I have experienced it enough to know who to call and who not to call. There are many scams, ripoffs, and lack luster providers in BackPage. Some of my favorite providers post on BackPage, you just have to know who to call and who not to call.

Because of the stigma for BackPage, that is, the ripoffs, scams, lack luster providers, providers that have pimps, providers supporting their drug habits, and the list goes on, some of these hobbyist don't see these girls. But, in reality, some hobbyist do, but don't post reviews about them or post a review under an alias. Their egos and prestige prevent them from posting reviews or saying anything positive about them., yet, some of these guys do see BackPage providers. They don't want providers and hobbyist checking their reviews and seeing that they see backpage providers because of its stigma.

For me I sometimes do use it because I have believe it or not met some wonderful business men  on there that do not know about hobby sites or who don't really use them.
Sites like TER and others are wonderful to utilize but you have to build credibility to be appreciated on them so when I  started becoming an escort I used BP and to be honest I have never had a problem on it.
I can understand why some might find it beneath them with all the bargain hunters on there but for me it worked.

Surprisingly, I have found that many men check their first to see who is available, & from there, go check reviews, history of the lady, etc. I do not post there very often, & when I do not post for awhile & then do, I get a barrage of e-mails, asking where I have been, lol. Believe it or not, there are a ton of people who have never heard of TER, or just choose not to use it, & only use other sites for finding providers. Many times, advertising on TER alone is not enough & in the end, BP is just another advertising tool.

It's just an advertising venue, it's not BP that is the problem. It's the bad providers who use it. Most mongers understand this, it's just a convenient stereotype like "white men can't jump". Saying BP is terrible is just a quick and easy way to warn people instead of writing the same paragraphs over and over explaining it in detail. I'm often guilty of this myself, especially when it relates to newbs. However, I use the site sometimes. I just always check to see if the lady has a few good reviews first here on TER before I see her. No TOFTT for me. It's really no different then any other ad mall if you do it that way. It's so cheap to advertise there that it's always going to attract the scam artists though.

I use TER as the first step in my research.  I follow the links to her web site, her ads.  I use the TER information (real pictures, delivered as promised).
I know some great ladies who advertize on all venues.   Ads are only part of the picture & I would never book solely on an ad.

Some good providers do, especially when they are touring.  The key would be if a poster there refers to reviews on TER or other reputable site.  Like everything else in this game, you need to do your homework and know how to separate the wheat from the chaff.  As someone else mentioned, while TER is very valuable, you need to look on other sites as well in order to fully know what's out there.
One more thought re BP.  In some parts of the country it's virtually the only way to find local providers, so you have no choice.

in some smaller areas it is the only source of ladies.  Let us face it, most of the big boards, TER among them, cater to large cities.  If you find yourself in a smaller area, well, BP may be it.

Are usually not verifiable...  Unless they are using a BP add to supplement a Date Check or P411 account.  Why post solely on BP when you can go to a legit site that specifically screens to weed out certain characteristics?

I'm not necessarily saying it's bad, but there's definitely a higher risk.

That's my businesslike answer. I get a lot more calls on days when I post to BP, although it does follow the usual proportion of 20 calls to every 1 actual booking (or close!). The calls I get from TER and the more local boards are reliable and serious gents, but I guess I'm just ambitious and/or greedy? ;) I want more!

What is dangerous, bordering on stupid, is seeing woman who is unverifiable from any other source or booking with a guy without screening him or asking for references.  It's not the medium that is at fault, it is, as is most often the case, human frailty that causes the problems...

There is good and bad on BP but it's another venue to reach out to hobbyists and for hobbyists to have other sites to check out. I do view it with some skepticism but I also still check it with the other sites. I run the names/numbers in TER first though.
