Just saw young adult
Was very disappointed  the trailer  makes  it appear to be a dark comedy but it was just awful every laugh was in the trailer sfter that all downhill save your money !

The laughs are uncomfortable, the whole thing is unpleasant, the "love" scene with Patton O. and Charlize is not pretty, but the whole movie is brilliant and you should go see it.  Don't take the kids, don't go on a first date, and don't believe for an instant that you could ever chug bourbon like C.T. does and look anywhere near that good...........  I give it a B+. Smart nasty fun.

So what do you who have seen "Young Adult" think was going on with the Cherlize Theron character?
To me, she seemed wrapped up in unrealistic and adolescent views about relationships.

She was definitely unprepared for real life and real relationships.
Seems to me she could work on that, and make things better for herself.

What did you make of the scene with her parents?
The way her mother responded when she told her parents that she thought she might be an alcoholic?

I got the feeling that her parents raised her to believe that she was an unacceptable person if she was not a "perfect princess".

I agree. To me, she seemed like someone who was still a prisoner of her childhood.
Maybe she could learn to "parent" herself, if she was poorly parented as a child.

Then maybe she could stop longing for her parents to give her what they are incapable of giving her, and move successfully into true adulthood.
