I only play when I travel. Given that I know my schedule (generally) months before I travel, when would providers prefer I schedule? I don't want to be a pain in the arse and schedule WAY in advance, but want to give providers time for verification, etc.

there is no such thing as WAY in advance..i just booked a session for july..her assistant did not consider me a pain in the ass..but thanked me for booking so early..she will be booked solid very quickly..the longer you wait to book..the less chance you will have to see her..the early bird always get the worms..

It all depends on the provider.  How popular she is, prob the biggest factor.  If she is very popular, and a touring gal, I'd book as soon as I knew she was coming to my town.  For me, with local girls, I usually like to book about a week ahead, just to make sure I get the day and time I want.

Since you only play when you travel, if you know your itinerary, try to schedule when you can.  Would suggest letting providers know your situation with the traveling, they will probably appreciate that information, as to why you want to schedule far in advance.  Be sure to have your refs in order for them.

Good luck,
Swim

holding on to your info. that long but all providers are different. Maybe you can make initial contact then send a reminder note a week prior and do the verification then. Too many things can change in a week so months in advance is a crap shoot to go ahead and reserve anything without a deposit. Again, not all providers feel that way so take a shot.

just ask the provider, she'll tell you if it's to far in advance. Most issues in the hobby are a ymmv and this is no exception
