DATY

Question: so I read all these posts of guys doing DATY on a provider. How big is the risk of contracting an STD that way? Is one just at as much risk when kissing?
Either many hobbyists take a lot of risk, or the risks are overblown.
I love DATY, but doing it with saran wrap isn't nearly as exciting.
Also, what is the risk for the provider (in case of BBBJ).

Dear bonaparte,
I'm not a physician, so I defer to specialists in this case. But please see the previous thread and do check out the website. I believe it will answer many of your questions.

Take care,

Yes, my Dr's are all aware of my job that way I get the appropriate, more in-depth testing. Yes, there are different levels of testing for STD's. I have an endocrinologist (Hypothyroid), an OB/GYN and a regular family physician who actually is a hobbyist and who are aware of what I do.

There is risk on both ends for oral sex. You can obviously get herpes and genital herpes on and in the mouth is disgusting. It's not just like one cold sore, it's cold sores all the way around your mouth and inside the mouth as well as sometimes up the nose. I've seen this as I was a Dental Assistant. It's not pretty and it's very painful.

Then there is Chlamydia in your throat. Also not pretty, though I've never seen it. Chlamydia is the biggest risk. It's a rampant STD because many people have it but few present symptoms and so they don't know they have it. Every six months, I take a week's worth of Doxycycline just to be certain that if I’m carrying Chlamydia or gonorrhea, it's gone. Sometimes it does not show up on tests because it has not had a long enough gestational period. I have never been diagnosed with any STD in my life, but I take measures to protect myself, too. Which we all should do. Especially those gents who are married who don't want to bring something home to their wives. Yes, if you have contracted Chlamydia or Gonorrhea in your mouth or throat from giving DATY to a provider, or anyone, you can take it home and transfer it from your mouth to your wife's vagina or throat by kissing her.

Now, as to the "Big One," HIV, there is very little risk of contracting HIV via oral sex. However, the one way to contract it is if you have open sores in your mouth. Most people think, "Oh no problem, I don't have any." Well, yes you do. Every single day. If you brush your teeth, you have open abrasions in your gums and it's the perfect place to contract HIV or anything else someone may have. So, you shouldn't brush your teeth within four hours prior to performing oral sex on anyone. This goes for the providers, too. If you brush your teeth just before seeing a client, do covered BJ because if you do BBBJ and especially BBBJTC and he has something, there is a great chance you will contract it through the abrasions in your gums. Same for gents with the ladies.

Now, I have to mention something here because for some reason, it seems the men who engage in this hobby and elsewhere in life do not get regular STD checks. Many of you guys get checked MAYBE once a year and you think that's enough. It isn't. Hear that? IT IS NOT ENOUGH TO GET TESTED ONCE A YEAR. You should be getting tested once every three months, AT MINIMUM, especially if you're seeing sex workers.

Now, many of you worry about your physician telling your wife or your insurance company mentioning it, or whatever other excuses I've been given. HIPPA laws prevent your physician from sharing any information with anyone. You can specify to your physician to put it in your chart that you don't wish to receive a phone call if your tests are clean or that the Physician may only call your personal cell phone or your work number. You can and should always specify that no information is left on voicemail or answering machines. In addition, you should specify DIRECTLY that no information is to be shared with your wife.

If your concern is the insurance company, you can go to the local Planned Parenthood and receive the tests virtually free and specify the same rules to them pertaining to how you are contacted and to whom they may and may not give the results. If you are seeing sex workers and especially if you are performing oral sex or anal sex, GET TESTED REGULARLY. That means once every three months MINIMUM. One test a year is not a responsible habit. Hell, I've seen clients who have NEVER gotten tested because they say they don't "Feel Sick." Well, as I said above, most STD's in men do NOT present symptoms, and most all STD's can be gotten rid of with a week's worth of Doxycyclene, which is an antibiotic, or a shot. Remember, if you are carrying something and you see providers, you are giving it to them and they are in turn giving it to their clients. It is one big incestuous circle, this hobby. Many of us see the same providers and clients. All it takes is one person being irresponsible and the whole hobby/escort community is infected. Also for the providers who may be reading this, many of you aren't tested regularly either. You should be as well, especially you. You are likely seeing more men than the men are seeing women.

Bottom line, the first line of defense is the behavior in which we engage. The second line of defense is STD testing regularly. So, please, all of you stay safe, do not take unnecessary risks with BBFS or BBGreek or really, bareback anything. Nevertheless, we providers must do BBBJ or we will not have any business; And while the risk is low, it is still there. Men, you don't HAVE to provide DATY, Most of you do it for your pleasure, and you can pretty much get rid of all risk by only doing DATY with your monogamous partner. But if you must engage in DATY with providers, please get yourself tested at least once every three months. There is a larger chance that a provider is carrying an STD without knowing it than most clients, and that's only because of the number of people with whom we engage in risky behavior.

Okay, rant over. If you'd like to do some research, a great place to do it is the CDC website, to which I will link below. If you want one on one advice, talk to your Dr. Your Dr. is the one who is personally knowledgeable about your health and your physician will not judge you. Your Dr. has sex too, after all. In addition, many see escorts. :)

Play safely, please,

Andi

I use listerine before and after, but I wonder if asking the provider to wipe herself with some kind of antiseptic wipe would also help reduce the chances of catching something.

Dear mark755,
to my knowledge, Listerine does not kill viruses or sexually transmitted bugs such as trichomonas et al. Still it's probably a good idea. Even simple oral bacteria can irritate a woman's vaginal tissues. Check with the CDC website to be sure, though.

So, what's involved with STD testing? Do you just get one blood test? Do you simply ask your physician, "I want to be tested for STDs?"

Oh no no, no just blood tests. I have a pelvic exam with a pap smear, cells taken from my cervix and tested and looked at, urine tests (almost EVERYTHING shows up in urine.) as well as 3 vials of blood per testing period.

I say to my physician, "It's that time again, I need the whole panel done, in depth, most information you can possibly obtain." He knows I'm a provider and yours should know you frequent providers so that you can get the best testing available.

It's my understanding that the penile swab is no longer necessary and has been replaced with a far less invasive, painless procedure. I cannot quite recall what the procedure is, though.

Love,

Andi

Thanks for the info, Andi. I would guess that if most clients were to follow your advice, they would have to go the Planned Parenthood route, since I would think that a quarterly battery of STD testing would run up quite a bill. Obviously, no insurance company would pay for it.

I am also wondering about getting STD via DFK. My favorite activity is DFK and I am married - so very concerned about herpes or anything else. Any advice how to continue the DFK hobby, but stay safe too?

unless DFK stands for something else other than Deep French Kissing? Remember the furor over if Linda Evans should have an AIDS test after kissing Rock Hudson on the TV series "Dynasty?" You're definitely HIV safe here.

On the other hand, you could catch colds, the flu, the ORAL herpes virus (although you'd have to be blind to kiss someone with an active cold sore on her lips, since that's hard to conceal) or even Hepatitis B from kissing...although chances are that those pesky cold bugs were spread by hand-to-hand contact rather than from puckering up.

Strange but true,

Andi,

Great information, and I couldn't agree more.  Unfortunately it isn't always that easy, as not all doctors are morally indifferent.
After my last trip to Vegas (where I met several new friends and had a fabulous time) I went to a doctor in a nearby town and explained that I had a "high risk" contact & requested STD testing.  During the exam he asked some casual questions, enough to find out that I am married & living with my wife, then asked if we are "finished having children", I said yes.  He then refused to administer either tests or treatment, and charged me $70 for putting up with his prejudice.  Who was I going to complain to?
I ended up at my regular physicians office feigning a sinus infection (HIPPA be damned, this is a small town) in order to receive some Zithromax.  It was either that or veterinary grade Doxy...
So much for trying to do the responsible thing & being open & honest with the doctor...  Ahh hell, rant off.
