True cost of hobbying? Does anyone else ever do the math?

True cost of hobbying? Does anyone else ever do the math?
As I stated in my previous posts, I've decided to take something of a hiatus from the hobby for a while.
But, as I reflected on my many years in the hobby, I've been struck by the amount of cash I've poured into "hobbying" over the years, so I sat down with my calculator to get some idea of what kind of cash I'd been spending of late. (FYI: my total for the last 12 mos was somewhere in the neighborhood of $12K)

I'm just curious if my other fellow hobbyists have ever "done the math" re: their hobbying activities, and, if so, what were their total expenditures on "hobbying."
Let me close by saying that I truly don't have any regrets re: my expenditures. On the other hand....damn, it's a pretty nice chunk of change....

Yes I do, and alll I'll say is that it's a lot more than yours....
I'm the kind of guy who records nearly every expenditure right down to a bag of nails.

That's not including the collateral costs of my hobbying which include divorce, a sum that dwarfs the actual expenditure on the gals themselves.

But, it's still worth it.

Doing the math
The longer I am in the hobby the more my average annual spend.  When I started several years ago I tended to see providers once or twice a month for one hour sessions. Now I like to develop a relationship with an ATF and do overnights and multiple hour sessions a few times a month  It gets expensive fast but I enjoy having someone who is also a friend and lover but with some boundaries that keeps it NSA. Tried once having a civvie as a mistress and learned the hard way the meaning of gold digger! Thank god for professional working girls.

A number is abstract...
It is easy to get in over one's head in hobbying.  One should never spend the rent money, the grocery money, your IRA, the kids college fund.  
I have set a limit which makes sense for me.  Let me say my play has cost far less that yours.  Maybe I'm just a cheapskate.  If YOU reget the outlay, then it was too much.

$12k is like a 6 hour date with some ladies. Doing the math is always a painful event...
I prefer to live in relative ignorance.  I have a pretty good idea how much I spend on the ladies time, but once you add up hotel airfare, trips to the spa, dinner and Broadway shows, the total starts to look like a new Porsche Panamara (not the base model)

You know how they say that if you know how much you're...
...worth, you're really not that rich?  Well a corollary to that would be if you know how much you're spending on the hobby, then you really can't afford it.

When I was really active and fucking like a bunny, my CPA would comment on my cash withdrawals. And this was with local providers and porn stars. As far as he knew, I had a gambling problem. So I adjusted and just took out a large sum of cash each month, and that was my hobby budget. Not so much anymore.

$16K One Week Last Year
I had a nightly series of outstanding doubles last year for a week in June. Every one of them went into extra innings and extended hours. The cheapest was $2K, but I saw some outstanding ladies. With only one exception they were some of the finest dates of my hobby career. Needless to say that week really skewed my average expense report, and the full year talley still came in less than $20K. From the number of reviews posted by some of the mongers on this site, I am sure that I'm a real penny-pincher compared to some of the better endowed members. Yes, you can take that last statement any way you like.  Three of my doubles dates commented on one of you with a mechanical pop up dick who is one of the most prolific reviewers here.

Considering a couple years ago I was spending.....
anywhere from 500 to 800 a month on strippers I would say i'm at least getting alot more for my money now lol.
I haven't done the math but I would say 5 to 10k a year for the past 2 or 3 years.   I am trying to keep it to once or twice a month max now but if you figure civvie dating will cost you the same amount or more its not unreasonable.

No regrets, merely "taking inventory...."
Virtually no regrets over my years of hobbying....nor my expenditures as a result.

Honestly, I find it rather humorous when I listen to some of my younger colleagues' complaints about their humdrum sex lives with their wives, gfs, etc. Here they are, young men with resources, who, for various reasons, settle for the most boring sex lives you can possibly imagine.

No, instead, I'm thankful that I have been blessed with some abilities & resources that have permitted me to explore a myriad of sexual options..... In short, hobbying (for me, anyway) has been an amazing adventure, So, regrets? Sure, I have some....as we all do in the various arenas of our lives.

However, I'd do it all over again.....just wish I had more money, lol!

Given the fact that I've (conservatively) spent approximately $12K-$14K per yr for the last 30 yrs that I've been in the hobby.......then my total expenditures equal somewhere in the nieghborhood of $360K-$420K during my lifetime "in the hobby."

More than some.....and a lot less than others on this board, I'm sure. As I said, just an old hobbyist indulging a little introspection here........

Or, as the kids say, "I'm just sayin'"

At the end of the day, everyone spends money to enjoy themselves doing something.   There is someone out there who spends thousands on woodworking projects and has no idea about this hobby.  They do not even think about the money.  As a result, I do not think about the money.  Like anything, do not get addicted, and always understand what is important and take care of your responsibilities.
