They did not write me. I don't attend meet and greets. And when it comes to soliciting thru email, of course it doesn't matter if you use hushmail or yahoo or.. But I'm telling gentlemen to feel secure within their email exchanges they may choose hushmail and create a hobby email because things like this can happen. The media have no business coming to a PRIVATE party. Are you sane? The media cannot be trusted and you allowed some slick Willie to attend. That was a serious security breach! Then to allow him access to the email list is a huge blunder, and we can see the results.

I've never been to a mixer although I've always wanted to go (and have future plans to go), but now.... no freaking way!!  The next logical step from "private interviews" by a media member is someone sneaking into the party with a hidden video camera.  It's coming folks, you can bet your ass on it!!  I'm not sure how to prevent it or if Mixers can ever be trusted again.

Does anyone believe that he was really a "journalist or academic" as stated and not LE playing the role.  The ABC Nightline newscast spoke about private hobby parties.  So how nice it would be for LE to infiltrate a "Private" party, get your e maiil addresses, ISP addresses and later a year or so you are all called in to testify or questioned before a grand jury regarding the sponsor of the parties on promotion charges? Yes, hosting a party for the purposes of connecting people to an illegal business is promotion.

I am dumbfounded.  If someone suggested this scenario as a "what if", I'd have said impossible and would never happen with anyone, no matter the host.

As to WL's theory, not fun to have to testify, even dangerous as far as blowing whatever cover those dragged in might cherish.  The bottom line though, if your theory holds, seems to be the party host is the one in the deep shit way beyond any abuse taken here.

Me?  I expect anonymity.  I'd never go to something like this without it.

Flora said the least that could have been done was for those invited to be informed in advance (right from the first mention of the mixer) and let each person decide for himself or herself if they wanted to attend, or not.  Can't make it any simpler.  Those coming had a right to know this mixer was a lab rat experiment for a "journalist".  It is not like any other mixers ever had this "feature".  

The first sin was this was known and agreed to by the host.  The second and more mortal sin was not disclosing this right from the start.  Then, the excuse about not knowing how to bcc those e-mailed, so all addresses were shared with everyone on the list just doesn't cut it.  Why not get some technical help on something of this importance?  Sorry, I'm thinking of what a rational person would do.  This move is about as irrational as it gets.  

As much as the fee covers food and drink and an environment to socialize, it also is supposed to cover PRIVACY.  Well, that is clearly blown and the damage is done.  

The least the host can do in the wake of this reaction, as surprising as it seems to him, is give everyone who wants one a refund.  As the ladies didn't have an attendance fee, how can he make it up to them?  I wouldn't be surprised if he has some difficulty getting bookings, much less host another party.

Some seem to think that it's not a big deal, but it really is. To just think lightly of this and the whole situation in its entirety is  really a huge mishap and mistake. Yes we are all here on this board but many restrict it to just that. The hobby is a delicate place to be. Privacy and safety and discreetness is the upmost importance to me. I did was send vandam a pm. I then did my research on Wolfe. Yes I saw his picture and everything else. Still not happy. LE can pose as anything they want, just like an informant. I then posted my question of "who else got an email that was at the NY M&G" on the providers board. I was very much concerned. Then I came to the ny board and saw someone else mention an email. I responded I got one too.

The Ny m&g's were always fun, but I was ALWAYS nervous going to them but I loved meeting the other women. I was always cautious when and IF I spoke to gentlemen at these things because I don't know the person who threw the m&g and I didn't screen anyone I spoke to. So, business was NEVER discussed and I felt better about that. Thought, ok, I'm good.

Had I known a reporter was going to be there, I would NEVER have attended. I know I am not the only one that feels this way, even before reading all of this. I always thought this forum was a great place to have discussions of any kind, but was also fantastic to have talks about this hobby. I felt I could say anything on this board and its cool. Being told not to talk about this in an open forum is stupid, but bringing a reporter to a M&G is smart..don't think so..

I do believe the outcome will be that the m&g's in New York will be but to a halt. I wonder if anyone else from other states are reading what happened in ny and having second thoughts about attending or even throwing them.

The other question I have is, why did this guy who is supposedly on TER not post an apology for contacting individuals..How he got his email list was shady to say the least. If someone does one shady thing, trust me they will do another..

What's to stop Vad from creating a new TER account, submitting some reviews and then trying to host a M & G as a "new host".  It really does make going to anything but really "Private" M & Gs something you have to think about.  Even thanking Octavia on this board is something you may not want to do in the future.

Took the words right out of my mouth.How does anyone know this supposed reporter did not have a hidden camera on him?Most of us at one time or another has seen Dateline NBC some of these episodes show the reporter with hidden cameras to get the story.This is such a breach of privacy and the organizer of this meet and greet is dumb as a bucket of rocks if he thinks people would be okay with this.
This is the very reason why I do not attend these type of functions you just never know if everyone is there is legit.

Wow!  I don't even know where to begin on this one!  I don't typically follow this board, as I am from across the county- but lucky me- this was the first M&G I decided to travel to and attend....

A few of the nice gents I met while on the East Coast decided to bring this thread to my attention, as they knew I had attended.

The evening of the event- at the very end of the party I began talking to 4 gentlemen at a table near the bar.  Whenever I have attended a M&G the attendees have been well screened- so stupidly I assumed these men were.  We ended up walking out together, and talked for a bit.  I exchanged my card with the gents, and off I went.  One called me a while later and we met.  After getting together the man told me that he wasn't a part of TER at all- that he and his friends were "friends of the bar owner" and he let them attend.  Needless to say, I was rather shocked.  I was going to post something about it- but then noticed the host Vanham stating "he would never be hosting another M&G again" so I figured nothing this stupid would happen due to him again.

Now I can't help but wonder if the gent that came to my host site might not just be  our lovely reporter. And WHO KNOWS if he might not have me on film.

I have to say, once again, the NY board is so much more interesting than the NJ board! Where else would you get this kind of drama? I actually thought this was all a joke until I kept reading the thread - and then there was sheer disbelief that this had happened! Now I'm not even sure what to say. Contacted me in Atlanta about a client of mine, he had not contacted her. He lives in the south and is not in New york. She is fully apart of this reporter scam/ undercover operation. BEWARE! Asking questions about clients that were on the invite list. Its not ok!

Anyone who spoke to the guy would have assumed he was another hobbyist and had been screened as such.  Until they were contacted by him afterwards, because the reporter also was able to get their email addresses because of the host's carelessness.  These are the basic problems with what happened.

What a beating he's taking here, not that he didn't invite it.  I don't know that he needs a TER banning, or to be told to never host another party.  I think he already can see the writing on the wall.  

He misjudged this one completely, but I think he has to have enough comprehension to understand that no one will trust him now, he cannot explain his way out of this, though he tried.  Has he posted since?

He'll be unwelcome on this board, he'll be unwelcome at other parties (should there be any), and no one will attend another party he'd throw, should he ever even attempt one.  I also think many ladies will refuse to see him, no matter what fee he offers.

Now, does that make him dangerous?  Someone said maybe he was turned by LE.  If so, what happened?  He got caught and offered this as compensation for being let off the hook?  

If not, and he's now personna non gratta here, would he now turn?  What's he got left?

......and THAT is the issue! some of the ladies at that M&G might have already unknowingly given their "story" to this guy! He, being the reporter that he is/should be, found the email group list and said "hey, maybe I can get MORE material for my story!" and sends his own emails, individually of course (he's not as lazy as the host, apparently) to all the ladies he DIDNT get a chance to talk to/see.

I've never attended a M&G myself but came very close to attending the one in LA a few months ago. I'm sure most hosts aren't as careless as this guy but after reading every single reply/post on this thread, I no longer want to attend a M&G...EVER.

I can't imagine why this guy thought it would be ok to give a reporter, of all people, insight to something we work so hard to protect. And for what? Was he hoping to be quoted by this reporter?  Did he not think this through at all????? Like LE won't read this article in this alleged NY magazine? If there is, in fact, such a magazine at all? What's next? A reporter asking to come along on our dates?

In all seriousness, I would not be surprised if the reporter was equipped with a pinhole cam. At the very least, the reporter was most likely wired and recording the M&G guests' conversations during the party.

If I were you (the guests at the M&G in question), I would be VERY afraid of what was allowed to happen.
