'Temporary marriage' stirs debates in Afghanistan.

There is a website on the history of prostitution in the United States that discusses how out of step the US is with the rest of the world regarding our views on the world's oldest profession. They cite as part of their case that even a repressive religious hegemony like Islam has methods to deal with the "male needs". They specifically give the example of Iran. They refer to it as temporary wives.
Apparently in Iran where they adhere to strict Muslim law, clerics will marry you for a day to a woman who will then be your wife for that short period of time. Money is exchanged and off you go. Since polygamy is legal under Muslim law, you are acting within the confines of the law. After the session is over you say three times "I divorce you" and under Muslim law you are considered divorced.
That's true but you forgot to mention also under muslims' law a man can have 4 legal and permanent wives and 40 temporary wives at the same time, but here is the point:
This law was written for those rich bastards in middle east who can afford it, not us who have to give half of what we own which was nothing to begin with to the one and only future ex-wife! ....
..."temporary marriage" at face value is a great idea. We should go into marriage with an expiration date. Then either renew it like a library card or trade it in. Boy, it seems like a no brainer.
I mentioned that to my wife, and she informed me of a "slight early termination fee".
breaking the lease can be costly. One more reason to rent.
It beats the premature termination kind.
A drivers license expires every 6 years and has to be renewed; Why shouldn't it be the same for a marrage license? One way to lower the divorce rate....
