What's worse is "these" often morph into "Educational programs" that are quickly privatized into another "industry" lobbying the legislature, and chronically needing more paying, judicially/State mandated pupils. There is a multi Billion Dollar private/for profit industry born from Court sentencing mandates for DUI convictions. The God Squad and suspicious wives/girlfriends everywhere would LOVE to collaborate with both the courts and the business community as did MADD.

 I'd rather the class be funded by the court. Then it can be easily lost to "spending cuts".

In Brooklyn, New York, the district attorney's office runs a controversial programme to "treat" men convicted of using prostitutes. Called "John School" the men are taught that the women they are soliciting may be the victims of a sex trafficking operation. The aim is to reduce the demand for prostitution to end sex trafficking.

Again prostitution and sex trafiicking is being lumped together. Has anybody attended this?

Mass just passed a law mandating this for first time offenders as well.

These things are just a feel good solution for a problem that doesn't exist really, and certainly isn't going to end demand.

On top of that, some politically connected people get contracts to run these things.  It's a feel good scam, really.

That is like running Fast Food Nation to reduce demand for Micky Ds. Did it work? McDonald's is doing better than ever.

If I had to attend a John school I would demand it be taught by only top providers...and one's that don't have inflated scores!

And just for grins...they need to dress up in the little school girl outfits.

Attendance would go through the roof and everyone would be happy :D

There should be referendum before politicians are allowed to spend Tax Payer money on useless things such as these.  The assumption here is reduction of demand it is really working after spending billions and billions on something called War on Drugs.

Instead the best solution is to license and tax. Hobby comes above board and trafficking can be checked as well.

I know someone that was a victim. I will admit most aren't trafficked but it is a real problem and no john school will not help fix it. But it does happen, and that is the truth of it.

 Bout' 15 years ago I had to attend a class for "At Risk Behaviors" for getting stung as a "john".
I was surrounded by lifelong needle drug users. By end of the day I could have had 25 or more contacts for morphene, herone and methodone as well as cocaine, crack and meth.

 I don't know what the State or County was trying to teach me; but they sure did open my eyes. :D

they use the money they collect from the classes to go out and get there own hookers..it is called getting fucked twice..i love the way our government works..you wouldnt have enough money left to buy a salad..
