"Just keep going"?!?

Oh my god no, that just makes me wince thinking about it. If someone is just telling you to keep going, I'd assume that if it happened that time, that the same has probably happened other times. That leaves the door open, figuratively and literally, for all sort of terrible things relative to STI and pregnancy (if you have a uterus ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ ).

Being trans, the latter isn't an issue I have to worry about, but the former definitely is. While porn isn't my number one source of income, it is my number one source of advertising and I really enjoy doing it, an I'm definitely not willing to shake the dice on that and loose a career and my personal health. I think this is one of the huge reasons that regular testing is so important. I do all my testing through Talent Testing Services (biweekly) because they offer the most accurate testing available with NAT testing when applicable for a specific STI. So when there's an instance where something like a break happens, you at least have the assurance that your tests are accurate within +\- 4 days instead of +/- 12 weeks for some tests you can use. That still wouldn't mean it's safe to keep going.

I'm assuming that you stopped and recovered and didn't keep going, or at least I hope, instead of risk STI or pregnancy.

Personally, while I'm sure that you guys bringing your own protection wouldn't have any issue (there's absolutely zero chance I'm ever getting pregnant (rate upside to being trans and doing a lot of banging), for my own personal safety and piece of mind I don't think I would ever be ok with using that. I always have a healthy assortment of options available, including a couple options for female clients and also for people with latex allergies. I also always keep a couple of nice silicone cock rings handy for the occasional tree stump/traffic cone dick that has a bit of a taper that makes condom retention a bit difficult. By putting a cock ring on (just base of shaft), you have something for the rubber to hold onto. Additionally, I go through a ton of condoms in sessions. It makes me feel safer replacing a condom if it starts to slide down or just if it's been out in the open air for really more than 30 seconds. I'd rather spend a little more of quality protection and then replace that protection often than run the risk of something bad happening. You can replace a condom, not your health.

I'm sure there are no nefarious intentions behind you guys bringing your own, but just for personal comfort and chain of custody, I always use my own. The same goes for lube, but for different reasons. I'm very particular about sensation and performance of lubes, and through much trial and error have pretty much decided that Sliquid lubes are the way to go (it's also a vegan friendly option for clients I see that it's important too, an that has come up in the past).

I think that anyone who's been doing this for a while has (I'd say a couple years or more)  the lileyhood that this has happen as a possibility, but I don't think "keep going" is acceptable in that instance.

Also want to mention the counterfeit Durex condoms that were seized on their way to the US and U.K.. This is an additional reason I prefer to use my own because if I have a chain of custody, I know exactly where they came from, and who to take legal action against should I end up with a gift that keeps giving because of counterfeit products.

I've attached an article about it.

So a problem that I have had in the past is that when a provider brings her own covers they are usually the a cheaper brand and less reliable. Now while I am well endowed but not overly huge, the strain that is on some of the tips of these cheap covers are noticeable.
After a break in the cover with a very small provider one time, and she kind of winked an said "its not big deal, just keep it going." I started to bring my own.
As a client or provider, has this ever happened and how did you deal with the situation?

I prefer a specific condom, and try to bring them with me to use whenever possible.

Best way to go.  Have been doing the same thing for years.  Hobbyists should try several of the top-end offerings, and then choose the one they like best.

With that said, most providers are willing to make FC available upon request at time of booking. (Best not to mention it until AFTER she has screened and approved you).

Yes, I agree. I have a fitment issue and having my own solves the deflating fumbling around with condoms that don't fit.
I discuss it with the provider at the beginning of the session, again so we aren't having a rubber negotiation in the middle of a fun time.
Have fun.

but I haven't found it to be far superior to a regular condom. Either way works fine. What I won't do is wear a condom that is too small and chokes mini-me.

She had one come off and it cost her 180 bucks to get a doctor to remove it.  It would have been fun to help.  Lol.

Of size, style and types. I offer female and male condom and usually ask the client what they prefer.

Condoms can break for all sorts of reasons, too small, too dry, too old, too cheap.

I have had to buy several "morning after" pills after having had a condom break, and more than a couple of those were "quality" condoms I bought myself. and before anyone jumps to the conclusion that "I must be doing something wrong" I have only experienced "condom failure" well less than 1% of the time, more like .25% of the time, but when you start adding those numbers up over several decades of condom use, it's more than just a few.

Knock on wood, I haven't made any little Gamblers, nor have I caught anything over all these years. This is not a risk free hobby however. Try as we might to reduce our risk, it only takes once to alter your life forever.

Where to start.....

If the condom breaks you are ALREADY exposed.  There is no scientific evidence that suggests that "time of exposure" lessens an STI.

There is this mythology that a condom is a silver shield against STI prevention and NOTHING could be further from the truth.  Several STI's a condom provides little to NO protection.

STD's that condoms do NOT prevent:
Herpes
HPV
Syphilis
Lice/Crabs
Molluscum Contagiosum

A recent CDC study showed that condoms were only 80% effective against HIV.

The data that is available at the CDC's website makes it pretty clear that The #1 at risk group of HIV infection is Men doing Men anally.

The most at risk ethnic group are blacks.

A man who is circumcised is 60% less likely to become infected by HIV according the World Health Organization

Here is some scientific data on the failure rate of condoms, real science, real data.

Each person's sexual practices is their own choice.  But, it is imperative that you BE INFORMED with FACTS and not what prevailing gossip tell you

A recent CDC study showed that condoms were only 80% effective against HIV.
That study was done in 2002 and could not guarantee condoms were used properly all the time.

"REVIEWER'S CONCLUSIONS:
This review indicates that consistent use of condoms results in 80% reduction in HIV incidence. Consistent use is defined as using a condom for all acts of penetrative vaginal intercourse. Because the studies used in this review did not report on the "correctness" of use, namely whether condoms were used correctly and perfectly for each and every act of intercourse, effectiveness and not efficacy is estimated. Also, this estimate refers in general to the male condom and not specifically to the latex condom, since studies also tended not to specify the type of condom that was used. Thus, condom effectiveness is similar to, although lower than, that for contraception.
"

I will be using a condom to protect myself against HIV and other STDs.

Lube on the inside and outside of the condom helps reduce the chances that it will break. I've only had one condom break in my life and it was while he was cumming. I was a teen so it freaked me out for months. I've help apply them correctly ever since!

Eventually one will break, but if it happens often, there is something wrong. Personally for me, I have never had one break in 35 years of doing this. (Had a couple slip off, but not break).

What is odd is you saying that providers buy cheaper, less reliable condoms. Usually the complaint is that many providers bring condoms that are so thick there is no sensitivity at all.

I've not yet had a condom break, thank goodness!  I like to use a little lube underneath, but I have to watch it closely as they can slip off more easily (especially in cowgirl)!  I keep a wide variety on hand and check through the dates every few months. I love the Skyn brand (preferably their extra-thin condom). They also have a larger size available, which I haven't had issues with. One of my favorites are micro-thin and are about $7 individually. For me, it's worth it and I've never had one break.  The thinner condoms feel better than the thicker ones for me as well.  As long as a lady/gent does her or his research to ensure the brand is reliable and safe in every way (in addition to frequent checkups), then I think that's a good starting point. :)

Happy hobby trails!...

Great post, amarie.  This is not an area where you should try to cut corners for a few bucks.  I generally bring one with me just in case I don't like the options available.  I avoid cheap brands.  I have never had one break.

Like condoms, lubricant and health insurance to can run fast if you have some accident.
Shit sometimes happen but you can reduce the risk and sleep relaxed without any paranoid idea. Is not only about VIH you have a big list of diseases.
If you have had an accident it would be better to visit the doctor and do a revision, which will be repeated within 3 months to confirm that everything is ok. In this way you will be out of doubt.

One brought those sheepskin or whatever condoms that only protects against pregnancy but not hiv or other stds! He said he didn't know but still expected us to use them. He said he had been clipped lol So what!!!!??? I just feel comfort using my own. I have various sizes that a guy can pick and choose the ones that he wants.

I have like 3 different Trojan (regular size) brands, Magnums, and a few different Skyn condoms (personal fav). I don't consider any of these cheap or low-end. If a guy is picky avout condoms, he really should bring his own.
