Sex workers have between a 10% and 17% gofer infection rate of HIV than the general population in the US (its lower in some other countries, and up to 60% in some third world countries.

Condoms fail, I don't know why anyone would want to put themselves in a false sense of security and risk something that will never go away.

As soon as Truvada was offered to me, I jumped on the chance to get on it. The first week of taking it, you feel like hammered shit, but after the initial titration onto it, you're fine. Personally I think it should be mandatory that we're all tested (assuming that what we do isn't illegal... which it is, so of course there are no health standards) at a minimum
Biweekly, and preferably every week (currently the standard in Nevada for all LPIN's), as well as offered PrEP at a discounted rate.

I feel like this is somewhat similar to arguing against seat belts in cars because you have brakes.

Regarding the "Prep" pill to stop initial HIV infection from happening: is it commonly used by providers these days? (and clients, for that matter)

and don't require an Rx or cause liver and kidney damage.

I guess if I had a partner who was HIV+ or had a high risk occupation and I still wanted to bareback...otherwise no thanks.

That said, it's good to know it's there if you have a high risk incident/accident.

If we play safe why should we?

That being said, I know there is a segment of the hobby who play this game bareback. Even worse many who do are into the H, and other drugs.  I read about the stupid stories on other boards. Why people risk this is beyond me.

Play safe and respectfully and there is no use for PREP.

You won't run into a disaster here if you follow simple, basic advice (which I won't bother repeating here).

If you met a woman anywhere else, would you be afraid to have sex with her without a pill first? If so, then by all means knock yourself out.

If however, you imply that women here are "dirty" or in some other way tainted so as to NEED (vs simply choose) a pill, then just go home. No sense living in fear.

If this dude wants to take a pill that's great.  Maybe he wears a condom also.  Why do/ did females demand condoms and foam?  Maybe you can't be too safe.  The girls in this biz see a lot of guys compared to average civvies.  If no other reason than that the risk is more.  Stripper slide, condoms don't always fit or stay on, they break, they only cover the end.  There's a lot of BB skin on skin contact even with a condom on.  Cowgirl, where all the shaved lady parts are sitting on your freshly shaved man pelvis, no cuts there!!??  Her juicy juice runs down your sack and washes over your O which never has a tear of course!!??  DATY. DATO. CIM, COF. Do you brush your teeth before a session?  Any gum cuts there?
Most everybody effs someone BB.  Husbands, wifes, BFs, GFs, and then there are the porn stars, really a star??  Every body and their brother, or step-sister who owns an iPhone can make a p movie.  Those are almost always BBFS front and back and oral, with many partners.  I know, they get checked regularly.  Well maybe, most look like they walk a pretty straight line or not, like anyone else.  Even if they get checked regularly what's the rate of HIV in the porn industry?  Checked means you didn't find it. If they're all checked and clean, there should be no reason to check, right??  Oh one of them might have not been "safe"!!  Then theres the statement that " porn stars" don't even test for HSV, because everyone has it.
Anyway back to the condom, would you CFS with an HIV+ person?  Probably not, but we don't know so we wear condoms and maybe take pills and hope!
If the guy or gal wants to put a balloon over their head to kiss more power to them.  On another note I would be more concerned about the many HPVs out there!!  Play safe but know the field your playing in!  And yes I know condoms are all we have right now.
Stay Thirsty My Friends

The rate of HIV infection in the adult film world is actually significantly lower than the general population. However, the rate of gonorrhea,  chlamydia, HPV, and HSV is marginally higher.

The adult film industry tests for  gonorrhea, chlamydia, HIV, Trichomonas Vaginalis, HBsAg,  and syphilis. About half of the companies producing porn require condom use, about a quarter make it optional, and another quarter are strictly BB.

A growing percentage of adult film performers, for one reason or another, are using PrEP.

heard its a great way to keep yourself HIV-free for a few years until it fries your kidneys.  But at least when you die you won't have HIV.

I am on Pre-exposure Prophylaxis and proud of it.

I would probably flat-out refuse to suck a dick with a condom on it. Blow jobs are better mucous membrane to mucous membrane if you ask me.

But blow jobs carry risk of STI transmission. They just do. And then STIs in the mouth increase the chances (taking it from zero to something) of having a route to contract HIV orally.

Blow jobs carry no risk of HIV infection if and only if your oral health is excellent. But bleeding gums, food-related ulcers or yeah, STI-related sores, can make HIV a risk.

So WHY NOT TAKE PREP?

I'm just saying. I mean if you're all covered blow job all the time, then that's great but otherwise, there is no shame in protecting yourself.

Also, get a full-panel STI screen each month. That way if you do happen to have an STI, you can nip it right in the bud.

What is so hard about this?

The people who don't take PrEP, and the people who don't get screened are the real risks.

The people who actively take a role in their own health and safety, and take measures to increase their health and safety, are the folks you can trust.

PrEp gives a false sense of security. Yeah you are not going to get AIDS, but there is a lot of other STI's out there. In the homosexual community PrEp is credited with a rise in other STIs being spread. Why bring that into the hobby? Play safe.
