END OF MESSAGE

Sorry for the late response JP. I haven't checked the board in a couple of days and saw your message. Surely all if not most of us have a story about a touching moment concerning a veteran. I went to an all boys high school in Memphis and twenty two out of a class of two hundred and twenty one gave their lives in Vietnam. Several others returned with life long physical and mental damage. One of my closest friends had a breakdown from delayed stress syndrome thirteen years after the war - I went up to Kentucky to help move he and his family back to Memphis and I hired him until he could get back on his feet. I work with a beautiful giant of a man who served two tours of duty in Iraq and he still carries shrapnel in his body.
I think of all these beautiful men that gave so much and I start to develop eye water. I am truly blessed to be an American. gf60

I have another comment to make. One of the most moving experiences I've had is when I went to see the Vietnam War Memorial in Washington, DC. The monument is made from Black Absolut granite from India. The slabs were shipped to Vermont where they were cut and polished and then sent to Memphis to be engraved and afterwards shipped to DC. I work with a man that was one of those responsible for the engraving and the stories he has told me about the experience are amazing and touching. When I visited the monument and was looking for the names of my friends I saw a lone veteran crying his eyes out. I couldn't help it - I had to go hug him and cry with him. Veterans are people too. gf60
