i have personally seen chipper jones, jermaine dye, mark mcgwire, cal ripken jr, rickey henderson, javy lopez, john smoltz, tom glavine, justin verlander...why do i need to go to the college games? for the record, i was not saying it isn't fun, just that it has little to do with MLB. so many MLB studs skip college, or sign big league deals at 17 from the dominican or puerto rico or defect from cuba. this does not happen in the nba or nfl. yes, it can be a great way to spend a few hours, but it does not matter. it is no more meaningful than lacrosse, womens tennis or the debate team.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a baseball fan. But college baseball hardly counts to me. Aluminum bats? Those tiny fields? The fact that the good ones skip college altogether? I watch for the value of entertainment, but i put nothing  into what happens in college baseball.
Your post illustrates what you don't know about the sport.  Bats are now composite material giving a reaction similar to wood bats.  Colleges have not used aluminum bats for two years now.  Guess you have not been to any college stadiums either.  Most of the big programs have stadiums that rival AAA fields.

Congratulations to 'Bama for winning the Women's College World Series, beating Oklahoma 5-4 to take the Series 2-1. To quote the late, great Skip Carey: "Ah well; win, win win!"

Any of them that are not football or mens basketball, don't count

Well, some of them bammer softball players do look like football players.  Their pitcher is one big tub of goo!

I myself am heading to Omaha for the CWS.
