Another LE Nationwide Sweep

Do not underestimate the Feds ability to exaggerate and provide self serving propaganda.  They get much more support if they report rescuing the underage.  Many of the reported "minors" that this thread somehow turned into "children" are likely young adults over 18.  Remember, the feds assume that NO woman would voluntarily be a provider and all providers are victims of trafficking.  If adults are included in their total of "minors", who will know?

Just read that the FBI just wrapped up a nationwide sweep aimed at stopping underage trafficking.  Over 74 different agencys were involved, and they were able to successfully rescue over 250 minors.

Thats great, right?  I mean, over two hundred minors.  But then again, how many millions of dollars did this cost with all the stakeouts, wiretaps, whatever?  How many people could we have put through college, or built a home for, or fed or clothed just so that 1000s of government employees can justify their existence and a couple hundred people "saved"?

This country is getting worse and worse and worse......

Trying to turn the rescue of 250 minors into a negative? Because of the cost? I bet the entire op wouldn't cover the cost of a single fighter jet. Peanuts.

If getting a couple hundred minors off the street is a sign of the nation getting worse sign me up... we could do with a bit more of that kind of decay.

Now why do you launch into a diatribe describing the social ills of feeding orphans.

You do have a point, but how much is too much.  Is 250 minors worth lets say, 200 billion?  I'm just trying to point out how warped our country's priorities seem to be.  That money did good, no doubt.  But how much do you the taxpayer want to pay for this over lets say a college education for your kid?

No way in hell this costs 200 Billion dollars. That's  a third of our entire defense budget.
And I wonder how much dealing with the damage caused to those kids costs the tax payer? By your logic we shouldn't fight crime or address any social issues. Might cost a buck.

So sad for legit providers and clients.

Why is rescuing 250 underaged kids sad for anyone other than the pieces of garbage exploiting them?

Exactly. I'm all for the hobby when it was involves consenting adults... But trafficking in kids makes the trade look bad.

Not to leave anyone behind, but oftentimes our leaders make decisions which include a calculation for "acceptable losses," be it financial or lives lost, so I can appreciate both sides of the argument.  However, I would come down in the side of rescuing children, no matter what the cost, because you never know which kid, if given a new life, might grow up to invent or discover something amazing that may impact all of us in a positive way.

Even if those kids didn't do a damned thing with their lives, I don't know how we'd call ourselves a just nation if we shrug our shoulders and do nothing while predators use children as sex slaves. It's not a matter of rescuing a potential Einstein.  It's a matter of basic human decency. For me there is no argument. Some times you do the right thing simply because it's the right thing to do.
