I don't think people get why Putin puts up with Assad's shit. It's about a naval base and it's about an oil pipeline. I highly doubt he's okay with what Assad's been doing. He/Russia needs a friendly government there. If Syria replaces Assad, and they go against Russia's needs, we very well could be looking at Russia taking action to protect their interests. They cannot stop selling their oil to someone. There economy will collapse. They will lash out. So many different factions want to run that pipeline through Syria. To Europe. Saudi's are a player, Iran is another. Russia sells much of their oil to Europe and doesn't want the others to finish the pipeline. Why Assad would use a chemical attack at this point is unclear. It wasn't necessary. He was winning by all reports. Did they think that Trump, because he said he wasn't interested in getting involved in Syria, would do the same as Obama and do nothing? Trump acted. Now we get to see the outcome. I'm not for us getting involved there, but we simply cannot allow anyone to gas people. Do we not have a duty to act? I thought Lurch said we got all the chemical weapons out of the country.. I guess we all knew that was a bogus claim when he made it. The worst thing about this is if Obama had acted all those years ago we might not be at this point in time. This was long before his redline fuck up. Years before he had a chance to act and didn't. Bannon would've never advised trump on this. It was a good conservative move. Now what? The next few days will be interesting. The Russians were warned to maybe hit an "After Hour" night club, stay out a little late.
