In the past, this was considered an ethical lapse. Many may recall John Frey who went on Oprah to sell his bio, and had to come back with his head between his knees to Mea Culpa when it turned out he "fictionalized" his story.

Why wasn't this an issue in 2008? Surely McCain's oppo research would have made a big deal out of it. It's not like the Bruno Magli shoes which were discovered after O.J.'s criminal trial but before the civil trial. THE BOOK WAS PUBLISHED IN 1995!!!!! Really, phil, you're making this an issue now? SEVENTEEN YEARS after the book was published? Why? Look in the mirror and ask yourself why.

And that is a bullshit excuse. To protect their identities. Is he revealing the activiites of people who ratted on the mob? Political bios always talk about people. And gosh, the talk about "real" people.
This has never been a normal thing in autobiographies or "non-fiction."
Look in the mirror and ask yourself why something that has always been wrong is not okay.
And here is why it was never discussed in 2008. McCain made a decision not to go after Obama on more personal grounds. McCain never mentioned things like Wright or Obama's bio. There are a lot of things in the bio that would have been grounds to question him, but they just never did.
In once sense, Obama was never "vetted." he was never asked about potentially offensive things he said in the past or potentially embarassing things he did. The fact that he was given a pass once does not mean they are no longer relevant. He is still the same person. If something would have reflected then, it reflects now and there is no reason to hide it a second time.

Yet people trust him.. I've yet to understand this, but just look at the people who love Obama.. Yet have not bothered to research him, or his little bit of history that is available.. It's unbelievable how many Obama supporters know nothing about Obama except what they've been told on the news.. and by the way the news BOTH left and right is a total joke..

That's why when the movie Private Parts came out, I was so excited. What a great flick that was! I didn't know much of his history in the radio biz before that flick came out, and wow, it was so entertaining!
I particularly loved his antics against his boss, Kenny.
Later, to my horror, I found out that Kenny was actually a composit character, with different aspects taken from two of his previous bosses.
Now, while changing the movie so that these characters weren't composit characters would have made the overall movie a FUCK OF A LOT worse, and would have dragged things out that weren't all that IMPORTANT, I was horrified they did this, because it was just so damn unethical to do so.
To this day, I refuse to listen to his program because of it. Concision be damned!!!
