You are correct in all the things you said in your post. Great advice for those looking for a website presence. However the person who took content, didn't take it from my website,( which I built, and have copywritten my content)
She took text from a website advertisement and email list ad I have used often. I know I can't protect those types of text ads, but it still stinks that someone can't come up with their own ideas.

3 days ago there was a post regarding some possible inappropriate borrowing of content from someone's website.  While the direct borrowing is always an unethical thing to do, let me suggest a few things.  First, have a professional web developer build your site.  Most of us pros know better and will work hard to properly represent your best interests without infringing on copyrighted material.  If you've seen someone's site that you like, send them a note and ask for permission in advance if you want to borrow a piece.  The internet is filled with objects and hardly any of it besides your photos and your text can be considered truely new and original.  If you want to emulate a site (style wise) pick a good one and insist you get a similar quality when working with your web developer.  The link I'm including with this post is European and quite good.  If you don't like the work of your developer, then move on to a new one.
