And a good reminder to all to screen well to stay safe. The video has actual footage of the sting. No personal info is outed though and that is good.

Seven hours of how many police officers, waiting around in a hotel room watching and listening to video? How many weeks or months of prep before hand to set this up? Then they arrest 4 guys on misdemeanor charges. Good to see the county putting their revenue to good use! this hsit pisses me off! I am all for going after pimps and traffickers, and underage stuff, but why they waste resources on bullshit like this bothers me. And that reporter was very irritating too! "coming her to meet HOOKERS!" "Some of them were even "MARRIED!" "We spent seven hours watching JOHN after JOHN after JOHN!" Makes it sounds like there were hundreds (or at least tens), then she says 6 guys total, came through. Sorry for the rant, but that is just a bunch of BULLSHIT!

Be safe everyone.

It is the cost of having a state that knows how to budget and has always ran in the black, a highly puritan Mormon population, and a relatively low crime rate. They have all kinds of funds and time to bust sex workers and their clients. It is what it is. Ever week I see those that failed to screen in the Busted paper. If this post makes one guy screen his dates so he avoids getting arrested, my post has done some good.

and I agree, it is good to post things like that, because hopefully it makes us all think and be more aware, and help us to stay safe. However I still had to rant:) I still think it is a waste of resources no matter how much in the black the county or state is, to spend thousands of dollars to collect a couple hundred in fines. And to basically harrass some harmless people while not making a dent in the real problems of pimping, coercing, trafficking, etc... Wasteful and dumb. But, "it is what it is."

Spending thousands to get thousands isn't that bad of a deal for the state. I had a talk with a assistant DA and she thinks they even profit a bit. Sad but true.

That would be an interesting story
to find out.    Where does the profit
come from - not private money.

IF they make money, how?   Does
the money come from a general
state fund or a federal fund?

Does it depend on a conviction
or just a booking?    That would
take some good research.....

I know for a fact it costs on average about $250. A plea coast costs around $500 but often the defendant ends up paying part or all of that. That is only $750 if the county ends up paying court costs. Now getting a room comped for LE is easy so and the ad is $50 to $300. The officers salaries anther $300. Four "johns" each netting the county $250 is $1000. Sting costs of around $600. So we are taking around $400 prophet for the county. That goes down the tubes if someone fights and wins though. Most want it to go away as they can lose everything if word gets out so most don't fight. As I said the assistant DA said she thinks the county makes money on "John" stings when I ask her why they go after then so hard here. That and it wins elections.
