I had an amusing experience where a hobbyist attempted to start a flame war with me after I left a positive review for a friend on the rate I paid.  I did not take the bait, but it made me wonder why one would expect a meaningful experience for anything less than $250.00 / hr.  Your definition of meaningful will vary of course but consider the following - assume a potential friend requests this consideration (250K / Hr. – in the spirit of full disclosure this figure is a screening method of mine, anything less will not even be considered).  She (or he, must be fair!) will gross 130K. Year assuming (h)she averages 10 hours of "stage" time per week.  Wow you may say, this is one hell of an income.  But take into consideration overhead in terms of the following.

(1)  This assumes 10 hours, per week - no vacations, holidays, sick time, etc....
(2)  Those 10 hours of "stage” time require at least 3x in terms of prep., exercise, proper diet, physicals, shopping for the things that you like, keeping up appearances, etc..
(4)  Speaking of keeping up appearances, remember the overhead, clothing, in-call maint if their place, hotel expenses, T&E, hair, makeup, the list can go on in order to meet your expectations of a GFE
(5)  I expect my friends to have lives, perhaps children, insurance, perhaps the odd vacation or two.
(6)  The average time of career will be short for many of our friends - it cannot be helped this is a somewhat superficial hobby, regardless of how kind, generous, and overall good eggs we hobbyists say (and I expect are) we are.  Regardless, some may wish to raise a family, perhaps enter into a LTR – this is far from an open-minded society we live in, and careers will be abbreviated.
(7)  The percentage of time wasted dealing with morons (NC/NS, the random perv, screening, etc...)
(8)  Website, staffing is using an assistant, advertising (I would prefer not to meet a friend only listed on BP) etc…

So to place this in perspective, assume you gross 130K / Year in your typical civy gig.  You're lucky if benefits, retirement, etc.. run you 35% or less per year.  You do not have the additional overhead to consider, the random adjustments you make to your personal life to accommodate schedules, thinking what happens when looks fade, on it goes....  Doing a quick napkin business plan I expect expenses to run 60% of that figure, 42K / year is not something I would crow about, indeed based on the risk our friends take into consideration.

I would expect any friend I choose to spend time with sits down and is honest with what I outlined, assuming she (and I am not being gender neutral as it relates to me – I’m such a nerd) has, provides her considerations accordingly, I am more than happy to spend time with someone that is that serious about their life.  I do not consider this crass, it is simply reasonable economics.

Funny story...guy calls me trys to talk me down on price, I say goodbye. He calls next week, tells me 2 different providers that he talked down to $80. both times he went out & got robbed, the first he layed the money down & bf came out of bathroom w/ball bat. 2nd time same thing but he said he had a police friend waiting in his car so he got his money back.....
1st thing I told him since he had police friend that probably would accompany him I really didn't want him around. 2nd thing since he hadn't learned his lesson & was still trying to talk me down (all the way down to $80) I just can't be around total idiots (I'm kinda blatantly rude) he deserves what he gets for that price.
There's a popular site I won't go on at all, I signed up put an ad to say hello (wasn't advertising a price or service just saying hello) & xmas night the very first night of my hello, I got a nice threat from one of their members sending me a text (they refused to talk had many excuses) & decided if I refused to meet them & do all the things they wanted me to do for some cheap price they threw out there (my price was just a few bucks tooo much cuz I was considering to meet them but they really needed to talk to me first not just text until they walk through my door) & make it clear they would destroy my reputation & make sure none of the guys on that site would see me...... Told them I don't care, I contacted the mod had her take down anything to do with my name immediately (which she did), I let her know I had it on text (she did nothing to him), & before I even knew it I got some nasty emails & some shitty phone calls from the guys he did contact, so a big thanks to him....but I let him know thank you it was my choice to be allllllll alone on xmas day all day, but it was his actions of why he was allll alone on xmas day & probably everyday there after.....I know I'm a %$#@ but most who can fake a respectable demeanor for an hour have a really great time....I never promise to please everybody, cuz it just won't happen some aren't willing to just have a good time.....
But I also found on that site a long message where the guy is telling everyone to stick together & talk us all down & had steps of how to do it.....for 2weeks straight after that posting, I think I ended up seeing maybe 1 guy every other day (my regulars of course).....
