More bad information in a long line of bad information. I qoute:

"2) HIV can have a lag period or window during which it's asymptomatic for as long as six months."

Asymptomatic simply means you're carrying the disease but not showing any symptoms. You can have HIV many, many years without ever showing symptoms.

Yes, I too can play a doctor on TER thanks to the amazing power of google.

After visiting a provider I usually wait a week or so to see if I have any signs of infection caught from visiting a provider so I don't infect a friend or long term mate. What is a reasonable time to wait? week? or more?

I know it costs over $200 for a complete test, but I feel it's worth it. The peace of mind alone is worth it. The cost of infecting a friend or mate is much higher. If you are worried then you definitely should get yourself tested. I consider it, as well of TER VIP + P411 fees, as part of the cost for this hobby. Cutting corners inevitably will lead you into trouble.

.......I get tested every three months.

You can't "see" most of the things that you have to worry about and many symptoms of STD take more than a week to manifest themselves.  If you are indulging in behavior that you feel puts you at risk for STD's you should be getting checked on a regular basis.

Many STDs have no visible symptoms. Many of those that do, will not show up in one week.

If you are going to play in this hobby, get tested often, and use covers.
Or don't hobby.

Much info can be found on the cdc and other sites. here is one link that talks about time periods for STDs:

Alot of STD's have a six month incubation time.  you could be spreading the wealth for a good six months before you have any symptoms and then you have no way to figure out who gave it to you and who you might have given it to.

Best to be tested on a regular basis so if something is discovered, you know who you were with between the periods of being tested so that would narrow down where it came from and who you need to contact.

usually do bbbj and daty.

So the results of that could take 6 months too??

and free!  Be the first one there and you wont have to wait.  That way you don't have to explain to your regular doctor the frequent STD testing.

You will feel better knowing and not guessing.  You do not want to risk infecting someone else!

I would suggest playing it a little safer.  In the end, it is just not worth it!

Good luck

1) Some  STDs are asymptomatic for a very long period of time.  Hepatitis B and Hepatitis C are examples and although many people think they aren't STDs you can bet they can be.

2) HIV can have a lag period or window during which it's asymptomatic for as long as six months.

3) CDC and  Dr. Tony  Fauci who is Chief of Infectious Disease at NIH both recommend as far as HIV that heterosexuals who practice safe sex, test for HIV once a year.

4) If you want  to test for a panoply of other STDs, Naomi_Sweets gave you some  good advice as to a six month's interval, unless you get concerned that some symptom is  showing up earlier and you want to clear that up.

5) There  are many websites that will list clinics and locations in your area that test for STDs. Simply put the search term "clinics that test for stds" and you might put your area in as well in Google or Bing's seach box.

Good luck,

Jeff
