It's all personal preference. I lean towards independents because I like communicating with the provider directly. I also like it because I take long breaks and won't always have two recent references. I've found independents will use other information to verify me (employment, online search, business card, ID, etc). Though, this has it's drawbacks. I'm really selective of who I want to see and it's common for my request to be turned away due to lack of recent references. But, that's the price I pay and I'm okay with it.
As a newbie tell me which you prefer-independent providers or going thru an agencies? Is one safer or easier or cheaper than the other? Are the quality of the providers similar, different or the same? Thanks for your opinions.

Nothing wrong with agency girls, but they are really at the mercy (scheduling wise) of the agency. By the time you get to your appointment she's probably seen 4 or 5 guys. At the least with an Indy girl, hopefully low volume, she won't be mentally drained by appointment time. Then again that all depends on her scheduling preference.
I stick to indies because an agency is always going to have a bull's eye on their back on account of being so public.
Bust of agencies do happen, and if it does, I'd hate to lie awake night wondering if LE is going to call me.
I think. Where I am, there really aren't any agencies around, unless you consider shops as agencies, I don't. Besides, as pointed out above, agency girls tend to be more high volume than I prefer. I don't want to be the 4th, 5th, 6th, etc visitor of her day. My preference is toward providers that are fairly low volume per day.

pros and cons to each but in My play area, there are many independent ladies who are fairly priced and very reliable.
Back when I traveled on business, certain cities were like a desert for independents but there was an agency that was easy to work with.
My first intro into the world of p4p was the Mustang Ranch in the early 90s -- does that count as an "agency?"
The trick is to find a reliable one. But, as has been mentioned, they are more likely to be the target of LE than a good indy.
I think that agencies are more for those who I think strictly looking for the physical. In addition, they are more likely to be subject to LE and if you are unlucky your information could get out there someplace. Ladies with the agencies are usually starting out and might be a bit on the nervous side so they can be a bit "robotic".
With independents you can develop some personal relationships that are enjoyable but never become problematic because the envelope is always there. I would say that the independent experience is more of the temporary girlfriend experience that you can really enjoy. My personal view is that if you are going to be in this game, you want to be with women that you actually click with who would be someone you would date in real life.
