I don't think recording calls would be SOP here

that said, I'm going to disagree with the other advice -- not that it's really bad but that one of the key habits -- might even call it skill -- to form here is to walk away if something doesn't feel right. You can always find someone else.

Now, I think what everyone is saying is that you're probably jumping at shadows. That's pretty easy to do going into this game. That said, none of us heard the phone call. Nor do you list the provide like to the provider. As you say there are reviews, have you reached out to some of the recent reviewers?

While you might be new and still developing a sense of what's right and what's off that doesn't mean you should not trust your gut feeling. The down side is you see someone else, perhaps another day. The upside is you're not getting bad pictures taken.

I'm new to the hobby and to TER. I've been reading the boards a lot to try to orient myself, but haven't seen this one yet.

So, just I set up my first session with a provider, FBSM. She's got 15+ reviews, most recent just a month ago. She seems like she checks out, right?

One weird thing that happened - when I called her to set up the appointment,  I heard a beep on the line. Could have been call waiting, could have been some signal the call was being recorded?

Is that normal? A sign I should abort? I'd really like to not be walking into a LE situation obviously, especially for something so simple as a massage & HJ.

A little guidance?

The only thing it could net her is a lot of legal problems if it ever came to light.

Also, with the plethora of tones that cell phones make these days, it isn't that unusual to hear all kinds of weird noises during a call.

And if you think it is LE setting up a bust, then why would LE add a tone to their recording that could tip off a person?

In other words:  relax.

You found a gal with 15 plus reviews. You are only looking for fbsm with a happy ending. Phones beep for all kinds of reasons. You will be fine. Enjoy your session.
